6 Days Sydney to Brisbane from £318
Day 1: Sydney Hunter Valley (150km/93miles) Collect your car and travel to the Hunter Valley, one of Australia's oldest and most important wine growing regions. Take a horse-drawn carriage picnic tour, go on a bike ride or drive yourself to one of the many wineries, before arriving at your hotel where you will stay for the next two nights. Day 3: Hunter Valley Port Stephens (106km/66miles) Travel east via Kurri Kurri and Hexham onto the Pacific Highway to the Port Stephens region. The area encompasses the towns of Nelson Bay, Corlette, Salamander Bay, Soldiers Point and Shoal Bay, and offers sheltered white sandy beaches and stretches of natural bushland. From Grafton travel to Woodburn and on to Ballina, and then to Byron Bay, one of the best beaches for surfing on the East Coast of Australia. Day 6: Byron Bay Brisbane (170km/106miles) Travel north today to Australia's holiday mecca Surfers Paradise, located on the famous Gold Coast, before heading to Brisbane. Drop your car off on arrival or the following morning by the same time as it was picked up on day one to avoid additional charges.
Please note this self-drive can be modified to allow additional nights in Byron Bay. This is highly recommended if time allows.

Day 1: Sydney Canberra (296km/184miles) Leave Sydney and travel south to Australia's capital city Canberra. On the way, pass through lush cattle grazing country and a number of typical Australian country towns such as Goulburn. In Canberra, visit the Parliament Buildings and the National Gallery or take a cruise on Lake Burley Griffin. Standard: Crowne Plaza Canberra Superior: Novotel Canberra Day 2: Canberra Merimbula (350km/217miles) Travel to Queanbeyan and then the historical village of Braidwood. Continue on through the small township of Nelligen and onto Batemans Bay, a picturesque coastal village known for its crayfish and oysters. Travel south from Batemans Bay on Highway One to Narooma, a popular fishing resort. Then pass the towns of Tilba Tilba, Cobargo, Bega and on to Merimbula. Day 3: Merimbula Lakes Entrance (264km/164miles) Travel through Eden and explore the Ben Boyd National Park and Eden Whaling Museum. Driving along Princes Highway, you will pass Cann River and Orbost, situated on the banks of the Snowy River, before travelling on to Lakes Entrance, a unique area with rivers, lakes and lagoons joining 90 Mile Beach. Then from Wonthaggi the scenery is coastal all the way to Philip Island, home to Australia's famous penguins. Day 5: Phillip Island Melbourne (139km/86miles) Take the short journey into the city of Melbourne. It's only a two hour drive today and your journey will take you across the Eastern suburbs of the city. Your car is booked until tomorrow and must be returned to either the airport or city depot by the same time it was picked up on day one to avoid additional charges.
