Darwin & The Top End 4 Day Kakadu, Katherine & Litchfield Camping Safari 3 Nights Darwin to Darwin from £360 Tour SKKL4 As an APT Small Group Adventure, maximum 22 passengers, this tour stays in permanent camp sites and offers a relaxed and easy-paced exploration of three spectacular regions of the Top End. With an early start on the first day we recommend you overnight in Darwin before. Adventure Departures: Apr­Jun & Nov­Dec: Mon, Tues, Weds, Fri, Sat, Jul­Oct: Daily, Mar: Tues & Sat Day 1: Darwin - Kakadu Depart Darwin at 7.00am and head towards Kakadu National Park. The first adventure is a crocodile spotting cruise. Next, stop for a visit at the Bark Hut Inn before continuing on into Kakadu. You will cross the South Alligator River before heading to Ubirr Rock where you can see classic examples of Aboriginal rock art and spectacular 360 degree views. (LD) Camp: Kakadu Permanent Campsite Day 2: Kakadu - Katherine After breakfast head out to explore one of the many magnificent natural attractions in the National Park. You will have the opportunity to swim in cool clear water, walk through bush tracks and explore spectacular sandstone country. After lunch you will travel south out of the park onto the historic mining area of Pine Creek. On the way a stop will be made at Edith Falls for a refreshing swim. Finish the day by travelling to the campsite at the historic Springvale Homestead. (BLD) Camp: Springvale Homestead Permanent Campsite Day 3: Katherine Today is an early start, so make tracks to the majestic Katherine Gorge for a choice of a two hour cruise or a canoeing adventure. The waters are clear, cool and safe for swimming. After lunch travel back up towards Darwin and continue on to the campsite at Mt Bundy Station. (BLD) Camp: Mt Bundy Station Permanent Campsite Day 4: Adelaide River to Darwin After breakfast depart for Litchfield National Park. Litchfield is most famous for its scenic beauty, waterfalls and safe swimming. You will visit Florence Falls, Wangi Falls and Buley Rockholes and walk through beautiful rainforests. Return to Darwin in the early evening stopping along the way at the township of Batchelor. (BL) Due to the nature of some of the sites you will visit, you will need a reasonable degree of fitness and good supportive footwear. The scenery of Kakadu is dramatic and the area has prolific wildlife and birdlife. The aboriginal rock art is amongst the finest rock art in the world. Standard: Aurora Kakadu Superior: Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn Day 2: Kakadu ­ Katherine (336km/210miles) This morning you are booked on a 1.5hr Yellow Waters Cruise. Call into the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre before leaving Kakadu and heading south on the Kakadu Highway towards Pine Creek. From here, rejoin the Stuart Highway and continue to Katherine where you check in to your hotel for the next two nights. Standard: Pine Tree Motel Superior: All Seasons Katherine Day 3: Katherine Katherine, a thriving town is the gateway to the Gulf and Victoria River regions, and the most popular attraction is its outstanding gorge. This morning you are booked on a 2hr Katherine Gorge cruise. Contact the tour desk for precise directions on how to get to the gorge to board the boat. You may like to take a swim after your cruise so be sure to have your swimsuit handy. Katherine Gorge is a system of 13 gorges all joining by rapids. The best way to see the Gorge is from the water. There are also scenic flights and plenty of marked walking tracks. Just 29km south of Katherine is the Cutta Cutta and Tindal Caves. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in this wonderful area. Day 4: Katherine ­ Darwin (309km/192miles) Today it is a leisurely 3.5hr drive north on the Stuart Highway back to Darwin. Your car is booked until tomorrow and should be returned to either the airport or city depot by the same time as it was picked up on Day one to avoid additional charges. Please note that during the wet season (Nov-Apr) adverse weather conditions and flash flooding may occur. We recommend 4WD hire during this time.
