South Australia 3 Day Sealion & Outback Experience Tour GRWSW1 Departures: Mon Day 1: Port Lincoln ­ Gawler Ranges Arrive at Port Lincoln in time to meet your tour leader at 9:50am. Travel through farming land into outback Wudinna and into the bush to Mt Sturt and the Corribinnie Lakes. In the afternoon, your guide will drive you through a changing landscape to spot emus and kangaroos (Reds, Western Greys and Euros) on the way to Kangaluna Camp. (LD) Overnight: Kangaluna Camp (two nights) Day 2: Lake Gairdner & wildlife This morning, you will be driven to the spectacular Lake Gairdner, a glistening white salt pan set in red landscape where 146 species of bird have been recorded. This afternoon, travel through a private sheep station and along a rugged gorge back to camp. (BLD) Day 3: Baird Bay ­ Ceduna Today drive to beautiful Baird Bay for an unforgettable wildlife experience. Aboard the MV Investigator, watch or swim with dolphins then cross the bay to watch or swim with rare Australian sea lions. After lunch on the beach, travel through magnificent coastal scenery to Ceduna to connect with your onward flight. Leaving Adelaide, your adventure begins as you head north to the wine district of Clare and the historic Mid-North. Continue inland towards the Flinders Ranges, an area of pristine wilderness. You'll stop for lunch to absorb the stunning views. Later in the afternoon, traverse regions once occupied by the early pioneers as you head towards Wilpena Pound, an area of spectacular gorges, and abundant wildlife. For the next two nights you will be based at the Wilpena Pound Resort. From here your expert guide will lead you through passes and gorges and over hills and ridges as you truly discover this stunning region. (L) Day 2: Flinders Ranges Make sure you have your camera ready! The Flinders Ranges are home to a vast number of native animals and birds. Perhaps you'll be lucky enough to see the elusive yellowfooted rock wallaby on the steep, ragged slopes of the gorges. Lunch is at the Prairie Hotel, famous for its Outback- inspired menu and offering such delights as kangaroo, emu and wallaby, amongst more well known dishes. (BL) Day 3: Wilpena Pound ­ Adelaide After your second night at Wilpena, it is time to head back. Travel through some of the historic townships of the Flinders Ranges. Finally leaving the high country, you make your way to the coast. The narrow corridor between sea and mountains gives way to rich farming land that takes you back to Adelaide. (BL) Luggage is restricted to one small overnight bag per person. As we cruise under floodlight to our overnight mooring at Craignook you may see nocturnal wildlife on the riverbank. (D) Day 2: Craignook ­ Piggy Flat After breakfast go ashore for a guided nature walk. Afterwards reboard and head upriver, throught everchanging countryside. You will eventually turn and head downriver to Piggy Flat to join a discovery vessel for a backwater wildlife tour exploring the maze of backwaters, creeks and lagoons. The birdlife is amazing - watch for darters, herons and egrets feeding along the river's muddy edges. After dinner enjoy the fun and excitement of the Murray River Cup. (BLD) Day 3: Piggy Flat - Mundarra An early start to go ashore and capture the dawn light; a special time on the river. Breakfast is served upon departing Piggy Flat. Enjoy a morning talk about the riverlands' bountiful food and wine trail. After lunch we reach the Pomberuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Murray Bridge where you will be treated to a dramatic dance performance. There is also a cottage industry here, handmaking chocolate using native fruits. As the ship departs for Mundarra join the captain and officers for pre-dinner drinks and then the captain's dinner and dance. (BLD) Day 4: Mundarra ­ Mannum (B) After breakfast, PS Murray Princess arrives at Mannum where we reluctantly say farewell.
