Continue on to Port Campbell where you will see London Bridge and then through Warrnambool. Port Fairy, a quaint fishing village, is where you will spend the night. Day 1: Melbourne Apollo Bay (194km/121miles) Collect your car this morning and travel south west from Melbourne on Highway 1 to Geelong, the largest provincial city in Victoria. From here travel onto Torquay, the start of the Great Ocean Road. Torquay is recognised as the surfing capital of Australia, being home to such famous beaches as Jan Juc and Bells Beach. From Torquay follow the coast road through Anglesea to Lorne then on to Apollo Bay. The scenic coastline from Lorne to Apollo Bay has been described as one of the most beautiful drives in the world. Day 1: Melbourne Yarra Valley (52km/32miles) Head off from Melbourne along the Eastern Freeway and travel through the city's eastern suburbs. The Yarra Valley is home to Victoria's earliest vineyards and is recognised as one of the world's great wine growing regions. A number of the wineries offer tasting and sales and many have great restaurants too. Nothing could be better than enjoying some fine local produce accompanied by a glass of wine made on the premises. You might want to stop off at Healesville Sanctuary, home to dingos, kangaroos, wombats and the elusive platypus. You will also find a number of boutique wineries where gourmet restaurants create dishes to match their individual wines. In the afternoon explore all that the Mornington Peninsula has to offer. Day 4: Mornington Peninsula Melbourne (97km/60miles) Depart the Mornington Peninsula and travel to Melbourne along the Nepean Highway via the city's beachside suburbs. Your vehicle is booked until tomorrow but it must be dropped off in the city or at the airport by the same time it was collected on day one to avoid additional charges.
