Broome & the Kimberley 3 day 4WD Bungle Bungles & Geikie Gorge Adventure 3 Days from £413 Tour 3DGB Adventure Bungle Bungle Ranges Departures: Monday Day 1: Broome ­ Bungle Bungle Ranges Make an early start and head off from Broome and travel through the vast Kimberley outback to Purnululu National Park, recently listed as a World Heritage Site. This spectacular wilderness park is the home of the Bungle Bungle Range. More than 20 million years of erosion and river movements have formed these huge black and orange striped domes. Arrive at the Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge in the late afternoon, which will be your base for the next two nights. (LD) Overnight: Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge Day 2: Bungle Bungle Ranges Explore the Bungle Bungle Ranges, stop at the stunning Echidna Chasm known for its towering Livistonia Palms. Take an easy to medium 2 km walk and then travel to the southern side of the Bungle Bungles Massif where a 3 km walk into the natural amphitheatre setting of Cathedral Gorge. You will be amazed by the acoustics in this natural amphitheatre. Follow the path along the dry bed of Piccaninny Creek to inspect the spectacular domes up close. In the afternoon you may like to take an optional scenic helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles (at extra cost). Watch the sunset over the Bungles with drinks before returning to camp for dinner. (BLD) Day 3: Bungle Bungles - Broome Set off in the early morning and travel to Fitzroy Crossing, stop off along the way at Halls Creek and find out about Western Australia's first gold rush town and see the amazing China Wall. On arrival at Geikie Gorge, enjoy a picnic lunch before joining the National Park Ranger for a fascinating cruise along the gorge. You'll see geological sea fossils, crocodiles, exotic birds and other native animals. Return to Broome by coach stopping en route for dinner (own expense). Arrive back in Broome at approximately 10.30pm. Developed in 1991 El Questro is a working cattle station a million acres in size. Located on the eastern perimeter of the Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia, the landscape is diverse with rugged ranges, broad tidal flats and rainforest with waterfalls and gorges dotted about the place. Four major river systems feed the station congregating in water holes and fresh water springs from which animal, fish and bird life gather. On arrival at the property you are required to purchase a Wilderness Park Permit (approx AUD $15.00 per person), this money goes to extensive research to collate data on the local flora, fauna and cultural heritage of the area. This information is then made available to all guests who have the opportunity to join an El Questro Ranger on a guided walk. Alternatively go barramundi fishing, horse trekking or explore the remote areas by helicopter.
