Small Group Adventure Touring For 35 years our trusted partners TrekAmerica have roamed across the North American landscape, pioneering adventure travel across this amazing continent. Trek operates more than 50 different tours across Canada & the USA, offering everything from week-long trips to epic 64-day adventures. Trek's small group adventure tours encompass cities, national parks, beaches, native lands, mountains and, of course, `The Open Road'. Professionally trained tour leaders know Canada as well as anyone, allowing you to get the most from your holiday with diversions to little-known but rewarding sites, and taking the back roads to enjoy the time spent travelling. If the outdoors is your thing, whether young or old, travelling alone or with friends, TrekAmerica is for you. Small Group Adventures To take a `Trek' is to experience the very essence of North America - `Fun, Freedom and Flexibility' are assured by the small group concept, and with a maximum of 13 people per trip, your travelling companions soon become your friends. In addition to our two featured itineraries, we can book any of Trek's extensive range of tours, please ask for details. Tour Itineraries Tour routings can change daily depending on the consensus of the group (or even the weather) and this all adds to the excitement and sense of adventure and independence. Tour itineraries shown opposite are meant as a guide, as by their very nature, TrekAmerica's tours are intended to be flexible. Accommodation The original TrekAmerica tours are camping tours for those aged 18-38. Journey from campsite to campsite across Canada, and enjoy the special feeling of waking in a new place most mornings. By the end of your holiday you will become well-versed in putting up your own (shared) tent, and helping with camp chores such as collecting firewood, loading and unloading the van, and setting up the camping equipment. Footloose Touring Footloose is TrekAmerica's alternative programme for adventurers of all ages. Encompassing more stays of two or three night durations at most stops, Footloose programmes are run at a more relaxed pace, and comprise four distinct categories of touring. Lodging Tours Offer all of the fun of standard Trek tours, but without the camping, meaning that all meals are taken in local restaurants. Accommodation varies from local inns to rustic log cabins. Walking Tours Based around destinations that offer the most scenic, and sometimes challenging, hikes. Two guides are provided to offer alternative hikes, varying in difficulty and terrain, each day. Classic Camping Tours Resemble the standard Trek tours but with longer durations at most stops, and no age restrictions. Family Adventures Enable families to enjoy the touring that Trek offers, with a choice of lodging or camping tours. These are generally of a shorter duration, and highlight areas of fun and interest for grown-ups as well as the kids. Meals Each member of the group takes a turn to cook for the rest of the group, guaranteeing a different meal every night, with the ingredients bought from a food kitty (roughly US$10 per day). City Stays When the itinerary takes you to a city, your accommodation for the night is either at a well-equipped campsite at the edge of the city, or a hotel chosen for its value and location, in which case meals will be taken in a local restaurant. 42
