12 Days St John's - Deer Lake
Departures: Daily (01May08-31Oct08) Day 1: Arrive St John's After arrival at St John's International Airport, make your way to the Alamo rental depot to pick up your hire car, before heading to your downtown hotel. Days 2 & 3: St John's - Swift Current (121 miles) You will start your journey today, along the Conception Bay coastal drive to the charming town of Brigus, and whilst here visit the Tunnel, Hawthorne Cottage and Ye Olde Stone Barn Museum. This evening you will head for Swift Current, nestled at the headwaters of Placentia Bay. Days 4 & 5: Swift Current - Trinity (81 miles) Leave Swift Current and follow the Bonavista Peninsula to Trinity. Trinity is renowned for its unique architecture including the Ryan Store and Hiscock House. On your second day here take a whale-watching cruise of Trinity Bay or maybe visit the Cape Random film set. Days 6 & 7: Trinity - Notre Dame Bay (196 miles) Today's drive takes you through Terra Nova National Park, with its sheltered bays, rugged coastline and rolling forested hills. Keep a watch for ospreys, eagles, lynx and moose. You will reach Notre Dame Bay by mid afternoon and here you will spend the next two nights. Spend your time here driving the coastal roads, taking a nature cruise where in spring you should see icebergs, or visit Long Point Lighthouse at Twillingate. Days 8 & 9: Notre Dame Bay - Gros Morne National Park (212 miles) The Viking Trail is your route today as you head west across an ever changing landscape to Gros Morne National Park, your home for two days and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once here visit the Discovery Centre

or take a boat cruise of Western Brook, for an incredible trip into a fjord with cliffs rising 600 feet above you. Days 10 & 11: Gros Morne National Park Main Brook (196 miles) Continue along the Viking Trail today before reaching Port au Choix, a National Historic Site, where artefacts of seafarers from 3,700 years ago can be seen. From here continue to Main Brook to visit North America's only authenticated Viking settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows. Here you can learn about the ways of the Norseman and take a cruise on a replica 11th Century Viking ship. Day 12: Main Brook - Deer Lake (259 miles) Drive to Deer Lake Airport, where your tour concludes.

Departures: Daily (15May08-15Sep08) Day 1: Arrive Anchorage On arrival into Anchorage, collect your rental car and head for your chosen accommodation. Explore this bustling and surprising city this afternoon and evening. Day 2: Anchorage - Kenai - Seward (127 miles) Drive south to the Kenai Peninsula and enjoy a whale and marine wildlife cruise (included) through the stunning peaks and glaciers of Kenai Fjords National Park. Overnight in the port of Seward. Day 3: Seward - Valdez (110 miles) Catch the car ferry (included) from Whittier across the pristine Prince William Sound, enjoying unforgettable views of the Columbia Glacier en-route to Valdez. Day 4: Valdez - Wrangell St. Elias - Paxson (182 miles) Head to Chitina for views of spectacular Wrangell St. Elias National Park, home to nine of America's highest peaks, then drive north on the Richardson Highway. Day 5: Paxson - Fairbanks (179 miles) Drive to Delta Junction, end point of the remarkable Alaska Highway, then onto the rugged interior town of Fairbanks, travelling via the festive town of North Pole. Days 6 & 7: Fairbanks - Denali National Park (71 miles) Head south along the Parks Highway to spectacular Denali, and check-in for a two-night stay. Denali is home to Mount McKinley which at over 20,000 feet is the highest peak in North America. The park's tundra scenery and wildlife including moose, caribou and grizzlies can all be seen on tours operated by the national parks system.
