Captivating Cape Breton Self-Drive

Departures: Daily (01May08-31Oct08) Days 1 & 2: Halifax - Pictou Arrive into Halifax, the bustling capital of Nova Scotia and settle in for the night enjoying its varied range of offerings. Tomorrow depart Halifax and drive north via Truro to Pictou, a community rich in Scottish heritage. Days 3-5: Baddeck (The Cabot Trail) Leave Pictou on the morning of day 3 and journey on to Cape Breton Island via the Canso Causeway. The scenic village of Baddeck overlooks beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes and will be your base for the next three nights. Over the next few days explore the different options Cape Breton has to offer, these include whale watching (a tour is included), hiking trails in scenic Cape Breton Highlands National Park or simply, long stretches of sandy beach to relax on. Days 6 & 7: Baddeck - Louisbourg - Liscomb Mills Drive today to Louisbourg today, home to the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, via Syndey and the Marconi Trail. On day 7, continue on the Fleur-de-Lis Trail, the Marine Drive and through many picturesque villages and communities to the to delightful Liscomb Mills where you will spend the night. Day 8: Liscomb Mills - Halifax (Departure) Depart Liscomb Mills and enjoy a leisurely drive back to Halifax - if you have time, make sure you stop at Martinique Beach en route, it's the longest beach in the province! Drop your car back to Halifax Airport by the same time you picked it up on Day 1 to avoid any additional charges.
