The Rocky Mountains
The Rocky Mountains are, for so many people, the essence of the Canadian wilderness. For centuries, explorers and tourists alike have gazed in awe at the majestic peaks, raging rivers and turquoise lakes that `The Rockies' have in abundance. Banff National Park is awash with natural wonders. From the pristine slopes of Mount Norquay to the shimmering Lake Louise, known as the 'Jewel of the Rockies', the scenic beauty of the park is complemented well by the boutiques, bars, restaurants and galleries of the Banff townsite. Bordering Banff to the north is Jasper National Park, an equally spectacular area encompassing such well-known sites as Maligne Lake, the Athabasca Falls and the Columbia Icefields.

It is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle. The Icefield is a true `Continental Divide' for its melting water feeds the streams and rivers that pour Ice Explorer into three different oceans, north to the Arctic, east to the Atlantic and west to the Pacific. It reaches a depth of up to 320 metres and covers an area of 325 square kilometres. The highlight of the day is a thrilling ride in a specially constructed `Ice Explorer' onto the Athabasca Glacier for a truly memorable experience. These converted coaches are equipped with oversized tyres to maximise their grip on the ice and also to minimise environmental damage. Athabasca Falls
