This historic, hand-hewn timber lodge has a stunning rural location, set amongst pine trees and overlooking the shores of magnificent Emerald Lake, in the heart of Yoho National Park just 25 miles west of Lake Louise. Since its construction, in the early decades of the 20th Century, the Canadian government has permitted no further development in the area, and as such, Emerald Lake Lodge retains its privileged status as one of the most exclusive year-round accessible wilderness resorts in the Rockies. The historic main lodge serves as the heart of the resort, housing a formal dining room, games and reading rooms, and a quiet lounge complete with oak bar salvaged from an 1890s Yukon saloon. From the large verandah, the visions presented by nature are as fresh as they were when early travellers arrived here by railway and horse-drawn cart. Guest accommodation is located in a variety of chalet-style buildings dotted throughout the grounds, and to preserve the tranquillity there's no TV in the rooms and vehicles are not permitted within the boundaries of the resort.
