Since its construction, in the early decades of the 20th Century, the Canadian government has permitted no further development in the area, and as such, Emerald Lake Lodge retains its privileged status as one of the most exclusive year-round accessible wilderness resorts in the Rockies. The historic main lodge serves as the heart of the resort, housing a formal dining room, games and reading rooms, and a quiet lounge complete with oak bar salvaged from an 1890s Yukon saloon.
