If you've ever wanted to see where the famous polar bears of Churchill spend the summer, head north to the remote Seal River Heritage Lodge for this fantastic once-in-a-lifetime wilderness experience. Departures: Jul 21, 26, 31. Aug 5, 10. Day 1: Arrive Winnipeg On arrival into Winnipeg, make your own way to your downtown hotel and check-in for an overnight stay. Overnight: Delta Hotel, Winnipeg Day 2: Winnipeg - Churchill Make your own way back to the airport for your flight to Churchill, where you will be met for a tour of the town visiting places of interest such as the Eskimo Museum. Overnight: Aurora Inn, Churchill Day 3: Churchill - Seal River Heritage Lodge This morning, you're off on a breathtaking aerial transfer to the Seal River Heritage Lodge, your home for the next five nights. From the plane, expect to see pods of whales, polar bears and caribou at the Seal River Estuary. On arrival, your hosts Mike and Jeanne Reimer provide you with an orientation tour and wildlife safety briefing. (LD) Overnight: Seal River Heritage Lodge Days 4-7: Seal River Heritage Lodge For the next four days, your naturalist guides lead a flexible programme of wilderness adventures. Enjoy at least three half-day expeditions by inflatable boat to view seals, seabirds and polar bears. You're also guaranteed to see some of the 57,000 friendly and curious beluga whales that congregate here. Walking tours to view caribou, foxes and polar bears are organised, as well as photography workshops, kayaking and birdwatching. Located on the shores of Hudson Bay, around 50kms north of the town of Churchill, this family-run wilderness property was built in 1994 in the authentic style of a remote Manitoban lodge. This unique journey of exploration allows you to experience the polar bears in the popular town of Churchill, and combines tundra buggy viewing with a three-night stay at an authentic Manitoban lodge.
Departures: Oct 17, 20, 23, 27, 29. Nov 1, 4, 7. Day 1: Arrive Winnipeg On arrival into Winnipeg, make your own way to your downtown hotel, and enjoy time at leisure. Overnight: Delta Hotel, Winnipeg Day 2: Winnipeg - Churchill - Seal River Heritage Lodge Make your own way back to the airport for your flight to Churchill, from where you'll transfer by fixed-wing aircraft to the Seal River Heritage Lodge, watching for wildlife as you fly over the coast of Hudson Bay. On arrival your hosts will provide a detailed orientation. (LD) Overnight: Seal River Heritage Lodge Days 3 & 4: Seal River Heritage Lodge & Activities Spend two full days experiencing the home of the polar bears, as up to 1,200 of these well-adapted creatures wait
for the Hudson Bay to freeze over. Enjoy photography workshops and walking tours to view the bears, which are kept at a safe distance by knowledgeable guides, or just wait for them to saunter by the Lodge! (BLD) Day 5: Seal River Heritage Lodge - Churchill The tour continues with another exciting flightseeing transfer back to Churchill. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, followed by an orientation tour and afternoon at leisure. Tonight's dinner is served in the home of Helen Webber, co-author of local cookbooks. (BLD) Overnight: Local B&B or hotel, Churchill Day 6: Churchill - Winnipeg This morning, you'll travel in the world-famous Tundra Buggies for more polar bear viewing and photography.
