This short and refreshing introduction to Algonquin Provincial Park provides the perfect antidote to a stay in the big city and combines perfectly with our Essential Toronto & Niagara Falls experience. Departures: May 15, 22, 29. Jun 5, 12 and each Mon & Fri thereafter until Oct 19. Day 1: Toronto - Algonquin Your adventure begins today with the journey, north from Toronto, heading for the Algonquin Log Cabins that are located just outside the north-west corner of the park. Upon arrival in the park you will have a chance to stretch your legs before heading off on a hike to Surprise Lake where a picnic lunch awaits you. This afternoon a 23-foot Voyageur canoe beckons you for the final leg of the journey to the lodge. The log cabins offer comfortable accommodation while preserving a simple décor in harmony with the wilderness. Cabin facilities include shared washroom facilities, dining area with fireplace, lounge and a sauna with access to hot showers. To add to the 'wilderness experience' the lodge has no electricity. This afternoon is free to relax before a hearty dinner, and a twilight excursion into the woods to listen for the call of a wolf.(LD) Overnight: Algonquin Log Cabin Lodge Day 2: Algonquin Provincial Park After an edible wilds walk for breakfast, hike to Lookout Bluff for a breathtaking view of the Algonquin Lakes. This afternoon take part in informative classes about bushcraft and other traditional Canadian crafts.
