Denali National Park Explorer

Departures: Daily (15May09-15Sep09) Day 1: Arrive Anchorage On arrival at Anchorage Airport you will be met at the airport before transferring to your downtown hotel. Anchorage is by far the largest city in Alaska, and offers an intriguing blend of urban modernity but with a sense that the wilderness is never far away. This afternoon explore the city at your own pace. Overnight: Hilton Anchorage Day 2: Anchorage - Denali National Park Journey through the agricultural Matanuska Valley, between the Alaska and Talkeetna mountain ranges, via the Alaska Railway aboard the luxury McKinley Explorer's domed rail cars - an incomparable sightseeing experience. On arrival at Denali National Park, you have a choice of whether to spend the next two nights at the park gates or journey to a remote lodge deep in the heart of Denali. Standard: McKinley Chalets (at park gate) Superior: Kantishna Roadhouse (inside park)
Day 3: Denali National Park Those staying at the park gates have the chance to choose from a selection of optional activities including wildlife tours into the park, river rafting, horse riding or helicopter sightseeing. Guests on the superior option can enjoy all of the included activities available from their backcountry lodge, from abundant guided & self-guided walks to wildlife viewing and hosted evening naturalist programmes. Day 4: Denali National Park - Anchorage This morning, partake in one of the activities led by the national park staff, or enjoy further optional sightseeing. Guests staying inside the park will journey back to the park gates aboard a scenic 55-minute flight that glides past the north face of Denali, Muldrow Glacier and the magnificent Alaska Range. You will then re-board the McKinley Explorer and head back to Anchorage where your tour ends on arrival.

Departures: Daily (15May09-15Sep09) Day 1: Arrive Anchorage Arrive into the cosmopolitan city of Anchorage, upon where you will be met and assisted with a transfer to your hotel for a three night stay. Overnight: Hilton Anchorage Day 2: Katmai National Park A short flight takes you to Katmai National Park, home to the world's largest protected brown bear population and famous for spectacular bear viewing at Brooks Falls. See as many as fifty huge bears feasting on salmon caught from the icy fresh water. Spend the day with naturalists before returning to Anchorage. Day 3: Kenai Fjords National Park Today you travel by train to Seward, gateway to magnificent Kenai Fjords National Park. Embark on a wildlife cruise through pristine, protected waters where you will hopefully spot all manner of marine wildlife including orcas, humpback whales and sea otters, all framed by an awesome backdrop of steep, narrow fjords and glaciers.(L) Day 4: Anchorage - Denali National Park This morning the luxurious McKinley Explorer takes you away from Anchorage and towards Denali National Park home to North America's highest peak and over 6 million acres of protected forests, tundra, mountains and glaciers. Overnight: McKinley Chalets or similar Day 5: Denali National Park Embark on a full day naturalist-led safari style' wildlife adventure into Denali, that also includes a hike around the scenic, former gold mining outpost of Kantishna.(L)
Spectacular Northern Lights
Day 6: Denali National Park - Anchorage After some further sightseeing this morning, return to Anchorage this afternoon on board the McKinley Explorer. Upon arrival, make your own way to your hotel. Overnight: Hilton Anchorage Day 7: Depart Anchorage Your adventure concludes this morning upon check out.
Departures Daily from Whitehorse (04Jan09-15Apr09 & 20Aug09-19Dec09) Come to the Yukon Territory and experience the natural phenomena that is, Aurora Borealis, more commonly known as the Northern Lights. Spend three nights at the renowned Inn on the Lake, located on the shores of beautiful Marsh Lake just 40 minutes from Whitehorse. The Yukon provides a spectacular backdrop for outdoor activities and, during the day, you'll get to experience some of its larger than life adventures which include dog-sledding, snowmobiling, hiking and mountain biking. After a day of outdoor activities, take your place on the expansive deck of the Inn, or lounge near the fireplace, to observe unparalleled aurora views.
