Jordan The kingdom of Jordan offers a diverse and intriguing introduction to Arabia, its people renowned for their warmth, hospitality and welcoming nature. You'll immediately recognise the ancient rose-hued city of Petra, the towering façade of its Treasury hidden deep inside a narrow desert gorge. The capital, Amman, is a delight, with limestone buildings dating from Roman times and modern shopping complexes. The mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea are at the lowest point on Earth, and offer a cool and surprisingly bouyant respite from the heat. To the south lies Wadi Rum, whose granite cliffs tower over desert flora below, and finally the Red Sea resort of Aqaba, with its beaches, turquoise waters and coral reefs.
