Sitting on an oil-rich peninsula surrounded by the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Arabia, Qatar lures you with its heady mix of sun-kissed beaches, desert escapades and rich Middle Eastern culture. Its modern shopping malls contrast with the sights and scents of the souk, where shoppers haggle for a bargain, a tradition unchanged by the passage of time. Long sweeps of sandy beach offer a wide variety of attractions both above and below the water, including excellent diving. Be sure to take in a trip to the desert, either by 4WD or on camelback, and be rewarded with glimpses of Qatar's spectacular scenery. In Shahaniya, you can visit Oyrx Farm to witness the majestic Arab horses, renowned for their beauty and prowess on the racecourse.
