Day 8: Guilin Longsheng Guilin Enjoy a day trip to explore an ethnic minority Yao village and to admire some of China's most spectacular rural scenery around Longsheng. Captured in numerous images of China, this area includes the dramatic Dragon's Backbone rice terraces, which cling precariously to the slopes of a string of 800-metre peaks. (B) Day 9: Guilin Yangshuo Enjoy a delightful cruise along the Li River flowing from Guilin to Yangshou, to view the stunning limestone karsts that tower above the river. Lunch is served on board the boat before you arrive at the attractive town of Yangshuo where you have time to explore and relax in one of the many cafes. (B) Standard: Paradesa Yangshou, Standard Room Deluxe: Paradesa Yangshou, Deluxe Room Day 10: Yangshuo Today, head out of the city and in to the beautiful Yangshou countryside. Explore, by bicycle, the local villages, rice paddies, lotus fields and fish farms. There is time to relax over a local lunch before heading back in to Yangshou town for an afternoon at leisure. (BL) Day 11: Yangshuo Chongqing Yangtze Cruise Rise early to join a tai chi lesson and to learn more about this ancient art. The rest of the morning is spent relaxing in Yangshou before heading back to Guilin for your flight to Chongqing, the gateway to the gorges of the Yangtze. This evening board your boat and settle in for your three night stay on this legendary river. (B) Standard: Victoria 5 Ship Deluxe: Yangtze 1 Ship Day 12: Yangtze Cruise This morning, cruise away from the industrial scenes of Chongqing and past smaller towns and rural villages whose existence is tied to the waters of the Yangtze. Make a stop at Fengdu Town to visit the Temple of the Emperor of Hell and see evidence of the Three Gorges Dam project. This evening a buffet dinner will be served on board. (BLD) Day 13: Yangtze Cruise Rise early to admire the magnificent river landscapes as your boat passes through the towering cliffs and mountains of the first and second gorges. This afternoon transfer to smaller boats for a trip up the Shennong Stream, offering superb rural

and natural scenery. Later today pass by the third gorge, Xiling Gorge, and then join the Captain's Banquet for dinner. (BLD) Day 14: Yangtze Cruise Yichang Shanghai Finish your cruise of the Yangtze with a visit to the vast Three Gorges Dam project site, due for completion in 2009 and involving the relocation of 1.3 million people. Disembark the boat at Yichang and transfer to the airport for a flight to Shanghai. (B) Standard: Rendezvous Merry Deluxe: Westin Shanghai
Day 15: Shanghai Enjoy a walking tour along the historical riverfront area, known as the Bund, set on the banks of the Huang Pau River, which separates old Shanghai from the new area of Pudong. Stroll down buzzing Nanjing Road with views of the Pearl TV Tower. Visit the Old Chinese Quarter to wander through the Yu Yuan Garden and Bazaar. Other sights visited today will include the Shanghai Museum and the People's Square. (B) Day 16: Shanghai Zhujiajiao Shanghai Head out of Shanghai today and head to the traditional water canal town of Zhujiajiao, dating back as far as the Ming and Qing dynasties. Visit a local Taoist temple and the Yuanjin Monastery and spend time browsing through the quaint shops of the winding streets. Return to Shanghai this afternoon where the rest of the day is yours. (B) Day 17: Shanghai This morning enjoy a walking tour of the old backstreets and the quaint markets and shops of the Chinese Old Quarter. Visit the local bird and flower market, the Dongtai Lu antique street and the Shikumen Museum in the Old French Concession area. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner together (own expense) after a memorable journey through a remarkable country. (B) Day 18: Depart Shanghai Today you will be transferred to Shanghai Airport for your onward flight. (B)
