Departures: Daily March-November (excluding Tues & Sat) Day 1: Arrive Beijing On arrival in Beijing you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure in this fine city. Accommodation: Novotel Xinqiao Hotel, Beijing Day 2: Beijing Sightseeing Today's sightseeing tour of Beijing will showcase the best the city has to offer, including the impressive Tiananmen Square, the Gate of Heavenly Peace and the Forbidden City. After lunch visit the Hutongs - the small lanes and courtyard houses of old Beijing. (BL) Day 3: The Great Wall of China Marvel at the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu, and take time to explore its many facets. In the afternoon, travel to the opulent Imperial Summer Palace where the emperors once lived, before heading back to the city for a traditional Peking Duck Dinner. (BLD) Day 4: Beijing - Xian This morning see the splendid Temple of Heaven and witness the locals practicing Tai Chi. Continue on to Hongqiao Market, one of Beijing's most popular sights. Later on, transfer to Beijing airport for a short flight to Xian and then onwards to your next hotel. (BL) Accommodation: New World Hotel, Xian Day 5: Xian & The Terracotta Warriors A full day's touring will see you visit the Terracotta Warriors at the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuang - the thousands strong army is an impressive spectacle. From here travel to the Shaanxi Museum, home to an array of ancient Chinese artefacts. (BL) Day 6: Xian - Shanghai After breakfast head to Xian's old city; on a bike ride, view the city walls and cycle through the Islamic Quarter passing by the Great Mosque. After lunch, transfer to the airport

for your flight to Shanghai; there be met and taken to your hotel, stopping at the Warriors of the Han Dynasty another impressive collection of terracotta soldiers. (BL) Accommodation: Panorama Century Court, Shanghai Day 7: Shanghai Sightseeing Rise early and take a walk along the Bund, then visit the Yu Gardens and an old teahouse. Here experience a traditional Shanghainese lunch before spending the afternoon at leisure. (BL) Day 8: Shanghai - Yichang Explore Shanghai by yourself this morning, before transferring to the airport and flying to Yichang. On arrival you'll be taken to the cruise ship that will be home for the next four nights. (B) Accommodation: Yangtze Cruise Ship Day 9: Cruising the Yangtze Set sail up the Yangtze River, through the east part of Xiling Gorge, and go ashore at the Three Gorges Dam Project. After returning to the ship, you will then negotiate the lock gates of the dam. (BLD) Day 10: Yangtze & the Three Gorges Cruise through the spectacular Three Gorges today; Xiling Gorge, Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge. Take a trip ashore in traditional sampans before lunch back on board. (BLD)
Day 11: Cruising the Yangtze Today the ship will call at Shibaozhai to make a visit to the Precious Stone Fortress; a twelve storey, wooden temple built on a hill and designed to resemble a jade seal. Enjoy the afternoon as you wish on board the ship. (BLD) Day 12: Chongqing - Guilin Disembark at Chongqing and transfer for your flight to Guilin; spend the afternoon as you wish. (B) Accommodation: Park Hotel, Guilin Day 13: Guilin & the Li River Start the day with a cruise down the Li River, watching the stunning scenery pass you by. A simple lunch will be served on board before you arrive at Yangshuo, where there is a little time to explore. Return to Guilin via the scenic route of Dragon Bridge. (BL) Day 14: Depart Guilin Relax with a foot massage at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Institute, then continue on a tour of Guilin, a city dominated by limestone hills. Ascend one of these hills to take in some fine views of Guilin, then carry onto the Reed Flute Caves to see the stalagmites and stalactites. An afternoon at leisure precedes a transfer to the airport for your onward journey. (BL)
