There are numerous cruise companies operating on the Yangtze and we have selected the American-managed Victoria Cruises as our main partner. Ships on the Yangtze are much smaller than ocean going liners and hence facilities are similarly scaled down. However, all the five star ships operated by Victoria Cruises are spacious and modern with light airy cabins and exterior windows giving the opportunity to experience the spectacular views unimpeded. The Yangtze River has always inspired awe. At 3,900 miles the Yangtze is the world's third largest river and a vital lifeline to inland China. The famous gorges are magnificent, with soaring peaks, sculpted cliffs, mysterious caves and cascading foliage. Despite the damming of the river during 2003, this is an amazing journey through spectacular scenery and an experience not to be missed. years old. Named as the `Pearl of the Yangtze' this magnificent structure stands backed by sheer cliffs (depending on river conditions you will visit Fengdu or Wanzhou as an alternative). This evening board your ship for a sumptuous evening meal. (BLD) Day 3: Yangtze River Cruise This morning sail through Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge passing through spectacular scenery. Disembark and either visit the Daning river small gorges or the Shennong Stream, at either site take a relaxing boat ride down one of the Yangtze's many tributaries and view its own impressive gorges. This evening return to the ship and sail through the three gorges shiplocks. (BLD) Day 4: Arrive Yichang In the morning the ship docks at Yang Jia Wang for a visit of the Three Gorges Dam Site. This is home to the world's largest hydroelectric power project being built at Sandouping in Xiling Gorge where you can also view a model of the completed dam. Early afternoon, continue by coach to the city of Yichang where the tour ends. (BL)

Accommodation on Board
There are a number of ships in the Victoria Cruises fleet. The Victoria Rose, the smallest in the fleet, offers standard cabins with no balconies, only picture windows, and bathrooms with showers only. The Victoria Queen, Victoria Star, Victoria Katarina and Victoria Empress differ in size but are all premier ships and all rooms have private balconies and private bathrooms with tub/shower. Finally the Victoria Anna is the newest ship with all cabins and suites offering balconies and satellite TV.
Facilities on Board
All ships have a reading room with a variety of books and journals, a beauty salon, fitness room and health clinic. Chinese History, calligraphy and Tai Chi lessons are also offered. The Dynasty Dining Rooms offer cuisine comprising of a mix of Western and Chinese influences. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style and dinner will be served in the traditional banquet fashion. For the Captain's cocktail party and farewell banquet, a jacket and tie for the gentleman and a dress for ladies are recommended.
