Cambodia Cambodia is undoubtedly one of South East Asia's most fascinating and charming countries open to visitors today. With a dark political history, wild tropical jungles, castaway beaches and some of the world's most revered ancient sights, it cannot help but capture your sense of adventure. Rediscovered by a French explorer in the late 19th century, the ancient temple complex of Angkor is an awe-inspiring sight not to be missed. Explore the intricate stone carved faces of the Bayon Temple and the soaring towers of Angkor Wat. Learn more about the country's history in the capital Phnom Penh, a beautiful French influenced city on the banks of the Mekong River. (B) Day 3: Phnom Penh - Siem Reap After a morning flight to Siem Reap check into your hotel and then enjoy free time wandering through the old market of Siem Reap, or shop at boutique craft shops. In the afternoon, embark on a cruise on beautiful Tonle Sap, the second largest freshwater lake in the world. Pass through a floating Vietnamese fishing village including floating houses, floating schools and even a floating hospital - which moves as the water levels rise and recede during the year. Return to Siem Reap and the famous Angkor temple complex to enjoy spectacular sunset views of Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious monument. (B) Standard: Day Inn Angkor & Resort Deluxe: Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor Day 4: Temples of Angkor Begin the day with an early morning visit for sunrise (and breakfast) at Angkor Wat to view chambers and bas-relief corridors of this monumental structure. Admire the eerie stone heads and the Bayon Temple, the Terrace of the Elephant and the Terrace of the Leper King. Afterwards, continue to the temple of Ta Prohm, still partly shrouded in jungle. Continue through scenic rural Cambodia to the intricately carved, and well preserved Banteay Srei. It's detailed reliefs are regarded as the most skilfully crafted in Cambodia.
