Located just minutes from JR Kyoto Railway Station, the newest luxury hotel in Kyoto, the Hyatt Regency, is built in the traditional and cultural heart of the city, the Higashiyama Shichijo district. Hakone is the area between Mount Fuji and the Pacific Ocean and offers outstanding natural beauty. One of the gems of this area is Lake Ashi on the shores of which, The Prince Hakone is located, with views of Mt Fuji and the surrounding forests. The area has much to offer including the Hakone Shrine, which used to be a place of worship for many warriors of the Kanto era, natural hot springs and the wonderful woodlands that fill the valleys. To access the resort travel from Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto boarding the Shinkansen Bullet Train to Odawara Station. The train journey is 40 mins from Tokyo and 3.5 hours from Osaka/Kyoto and is an experience in itself, (see page 125 for further information on rail passes). On arrival in to Odawara Station you will be met and transferred to your hotel (approx 45 mins). Newly refurbished, the hotel's modern and comfortable rooms have a `Zen' style décor and provide the perfect place to relax. One of the main features of the resort is the spa, which has a large outdoor onsen (hot spring bath) where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views of the lake and mountains. The resort's dining options include the Trianon for authentic French cuisine and the Nadaman Rikyu for a true taste of Japan.
