Taman Negara, in the central state of Pahang, is home to some of the world's oldest tropical rainforest. From the comfortable surroundings of Taman Negara Resort it is possible to explore this amazing region and discover its huge variety of flora and fauna. An eco-tourist's haven, the remote, unspoilt Taman Negara National Park encompasses 4300sq kilometres and provides sanctuary for countless birds, butterflies, fish and plants and is home to spectacular caves, waterfalls and mountain peaks.

Day 1: Kuala Lumpur Taman Negara Leave Kuala Lumpur early morning for a three hour journey through verdant countryside to Kuala Tembeling jetty and enjoy lunch en route. From here take a two hour relaxing boat ride to Kuala Tahan Park Headquarters, a fascinating upriver journey through dense jungle vegetation. This evening watch a video presentation of Taman Negara National Park, followed by the unique experience of a guided walk through the jungle at night. This is a wonderful opportunity to observe many nocturnal flowering plants along the trail. spend your day exploring the tropical rainforest. Embark on a motorised canoe trip up the picturesque Tahan River tributary to the cataracts of Lata Berkoh, an excellent area for fishing and ideal for swimming. Alternatively, take a jungle trek to Teresek Hill, 1130 feet above sea level, where you can view Mount Tahan, the highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia. Enjoy a rainforest canopy walk (weather permitting), then return on a different trail passing the Lubok Simpon water hole for a well-deserved swim and a rest. After dinner, there is the chance to spot rare animals from the resort's tree house. (BLD) Day 3: Taman Negara Kuala Lumpur After breakfast depart by boat for the two hour river journey back to Kuala Tembeling where you will have lunch before continuing on to Kuala Lumpur in the late afternoon to your hotel or the airport. The Cameron Highlands, to the north of Kuala Lumpur, lie at an average altitude of 1500m and offer a pleasantly cool climate, temperate rainforests, tea plantations and the flavours of life in a hill station from a bygone era. Today, terraced fruit and vegetable farms, strawberry fields and rose gardens jostle for space with rolling hills carpeted with tea. Local cuisine reflects the abundance of fresh produce. The estates of Boh Tea, Malaysia's best known brand, are still owned by the descendants of J.A Russell, an Englishman who first opened up the area in the 1930's.

Departures: Daily Day 1: Kuala Lumpur Cameron Highlands Depart Kuala Lumpur in the early morning for a three-hour journey to the Cameron Highlands, 1542 meters above sea level. Travel along mountain roads and pass beautiful highland scenery including giant tree-ferns, waterfalls and streams. In the afternoon there is free time to enjoy a stroll around the former colonial hill resort. Overnight at your chosen hotel. Day 2: Cameron Highlands After breakfast enjoy a half day countryside tour visiting some of the major attractions of the area including a vegetable farm, flower garden, tea plantation (closed Mondays) and the Buddhist Sampo Temple. The rest of the day is free to relax at your hotel or to explore the surrounding area and rejuvenate in the fresh cool mountain air. (B) Day 3: Cameron Highlands Kuala Lumpur Enjoy breakfast and then the rest of the morning is at your own leisure until you descend from Cameron Highlands by road to your Kuala Lumpur hotel or Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
