Thailand Touring Trails of Thailand 11 Days Bangkok to Phuket from £1320, Escorted Small Group Journey. Bangkok (2 nights), Kanchanaburi (2 nights), Khao Yai National Park (2 nights), Phuket (2 nights), Khao Sok National Park (2 nights). Ayuthaya Kanchanaburi & River Kwai Khao Yai National Park Bangkok Departures: Selected Sundays Day 1: Arrive Bangkok On arrival in to Bangkok you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a 2-night stay. This evening meet with your group for welcome drinks and a tour briefing. Accommodation: Siam Heritage Hotel Day 2: Bangkok City Tour Today spend a full day sightseeing in the bustling metropolis of Bangkok. Visit a selection of Bangkok's biggest attractions beginning with the former residence of the Thai Royal Family, The Grand Palace, home to the Emerald Buddha and intricately decorated ceremony halls. Continue on to the Reclining Buddha situated in the ancient Wat Pho temple, then jump on to a long-tail boat for a cruise down the Thonburi Canals to catch a glimpse of local life on the river. Stop at the famous Royal Barges Museum before returning to your hotel. (B) Day 3: Kanchanaburi & The River Kwai Today depart Bangkok and journey west to the pleasant town of Kanchanaburi and area surrounding the River Kwai. Visit some of the interesting war museums to learn about this region's recent past and make a stop at the Allied War Cemetery before arriving at the world renowned Bridge over the River Kwai and boarding the original Death Railway. A visit to Hell Fire Pass and its museum is the last stop before arriving at your riverside resort for the next two nights. (BD) Accommodation: River Kwai Resotel Day 4: Erawan National Park This morning board a long-tail boat and journey to the picturesque Erawan National Park with its waterfalls and lush foliage. Explore the park with a climb up the sevenPhuket Khao Sok National Park tiered waterfall with the opportunity of cooling off in one of the pools (this climb is not suitable for the less mobile and sturdy footwear is recommended). Enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to the resort where the rest of today is yours to relax. (BLD) Day 5: Ayuthaya & Khao Yai National Park Today travel east to the ancient city of Thailand, Ayuthaya. Visit some of the city's more intact temples including Wat Phra Sri Sanphet and Wat Mongkolborpitr. Continue on to the spectacular Khao Yai National Park just in time to watch thousands of bats flying out of their cave at sunset. (B) Accommodation: The Greenery Resort Day 6: Khao Yai National Park Today explore Khao Yai National Park with its lush rainforest and abundant wildlife, reported to be the best place in Thailand for wild Elephant spotting. Enjoy a picnic lunch whilst absorbing the scenic backdrop of dramatic mountain peaks. Spend the rest of the afternoon back at the resort before joining an evening drive around the park for further wildlife spotting. (BL) Day 7: Phuket This morning return to Bangkok to catch a mid-morning flight to Phuket Island. On arrival in to Phuket transfer to your resort and spend the day relaxing on one of the island's many beaches. (B) Accommodation: Sunset Beach Resort Day 8: Phuket ­ Khao Sok National Park Journey today to nearby Phang Nga province, passing some of Thailand's most spectacular rural scenery. Upon arrival board a traditional Burmese junk boat for lunch and to spend a few hours snorkelling and swimming at one of the deserted beaches. Late afternoon, transfer to Khao Sok National Park and check in to your luxury tent with ensuite bathroom and hot running water. (BLD) Accommodation: Elephant Hills Tented Camp Day 9: Khao Sok National Park Today head out to Elephant Camp to meet with the local Thai Elephants protected at this conservation project and enjoy a ride on their backs with your own mahout. After a Thai lunch venture out on to the Sok River in canoes, passing the exotic forest and looking out for tropical birds and wildlife. (BLD) Day 10: Khao Sok National Park ­ Phuket Before leaving the camp today join a trek through the nearby rainforest and learn about the variety of flora and fauna in the park, listening for the call of Hornbill's and local Monkeys. This afternoon travel back to your resort on Phuket Island for some well deserved relaxation. (BL) Accommodation: Sunset Beach Resort Day 11: Phuket Your tour ends today with a transfer back to Phuket Airport.
