Departures: Every Wednesday (minimum 2 persons) Day 1: Bangkok Ayuthaya Sukhothai This morning travel to Ayuthaya, former capital of Thailand, to view the gigantic bronze statues of Wat Mongkol Borpith and three ancient pagodas at Wat Phra Srisanpetch and Wat Pranangcherng. Continue via Chainat for lunch then on to Khampheng Phet to view the Buddhist temple ruins at the historical park. Then it is on to the ancient kingdom of Sukhothai for the evening meal and overnight. (LD) Accommodation: Ananda Museum Gallery Hotel Day 2: Sukhothai Lampang The visit to Sukhothai, Thailand's first capital (1257-1379) takes in the Historical Park, Ramkamhaeng Museum and Wat Sri Chum. Continue on to Lampang the Burmese-style temples of Wat Pa Fang and Wat Si Rong Muang. (BLD) Accommodation: Lampang Riverlodge Day 3: Lampang Lampoon Chiang Mai Depart for Ko Kah to see Wat Phra Dhat Lampang Lung housing an Emerald Buddha. In Lampoon, visit the 12th century Wat Haripoonchai, one of the north's most sacred monuments. Continue on to Chiang Mai for a visit to the Hill Tribe Museum and local handicraft factories before checking in to your hotel for a two-night stay. (BLD) Accommodation: The Empress Chiang Mai Day 4: Chiang Mai After breakfast, visit some of Chiang Mai's most interesting temples, including the magnificent Doi Suthep tucked away in the mountains at 1,056 meters above sea level. Lunch is at a local restaurant and the afternoon is at leisure. This evening enjoy a "kantoke" dinner, a traditional Thai style dinner, accompanied by ancient northern Thai dances and songs performed by the local hilltribes. (BLD)

Day 5: Into Hilltribe Country Visit a working elephant camp where you can join an optional elephant ride (approx. £12 paid locally). Continue on to an Orchid Farm and then to a Meo Hilltribe Village. The afternoon is free before a BBQ dinner around a camp fire followed by a presentation of Meo dances and songs. (BLD) Accommodation: Hmong Hilltribe Lodge Day 6: Kok River Cruise Chiang Rai Depart for Fang and Thatorn via the Meo Hilltribe Village of Huay Luek. In Thatorn embark on long-tailed boats down the Kok River stopping to visit tiny hilltribe villages. (BLD) Accommodation: The Legend Resort, Chiang Rai Day 7: Chiang Rai Bangkok An early morning departure to the Golden Triangle and the Mekong River where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. Take a short boat trip to Chiang Saen and have
lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Chiang Rai for your early afternoon flight back to Bangkok. (BL)

Departures: Every Tuesday (minimum 2 persons) Day 1: Bangkok Chiang Mai Golden Triangle Early morning pick up for a flight to Chiang Mai and then by road to Chiang Rai with an en route stop at a Karen village and the Hot Springs. After lunch, continue to Chiang Saen and climb the 383 steps to Wat Phra Dhat Jom Kitti for some dramatic views over the Mekong River. Afterwards, travel up the river by long-tailed speedboat to the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. (LD) Accommodation: Imperial Golden Triangle Resort Day 2: Golden Triangle Chiang Rai After breakfast drive to Mae Sai, the northern-most Thai town on the Burmese border, visiting a Jade factory, colourful market, Fish and Monkey Cave. Continue on to Doi Mae Salong, passing through beautiful mountain scenery. After lunch, visit local Akha, Yao and Lisu hilltribes before continuing to Chiang Rai. (BLD) Accommodation: Wiang Inn Hotel Day 3: Kok River Hilltribe Country Enjoy an early morning long-tailed boat cruise an exhilarating journey through thick jungle, fringed by
riverside bamboo huts of hilltribe villages. There are stops at a Lahu hilltribe village and the village of Ban Pha Tai before lunch at Maekok River Village Resort. Continue by road to Mae Rim and the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge for an overnight stay in Meo-style bungalows near a traditional hilltribe village. Tonight, enjoy a barbecue dinner around a camp fire, followed by a dance performance by hilltribe people. (BLD) Accommodation: Hmong Hilltribe Lodge Day 4: Hilltribe Country Chiang Mai Visit a working elephant camp where there is time to enjoy an optional hour-long elephant ride in the surrounding jungle (approx. £12 paid locally). Continue on to visit an Orchid Farm and various handicraft villages before arriving in to Chiang Mai where in the evening enjoy a Kantoke dinner.
