Pattaya
Approximately two hours drive south of Bangkok, on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya has developed into a bustling international playground. Day and night it presents an ever changing kaleidoscope of fun and thrills, especially now the area has made an effort to clean up its tarnished image of the past. The beaches are a good place for relaxation as well as having a great selection of watersports, whilst Pattaya Town with its famous "strip" offers a large selection of restaurants, shopping opportunities, bars and night spots. There are also a number of delightful offshore islands boasting great sandy beaches which are easily accessible from Pattaya.

This family owned resort enjoys a more peaceful location at the northern end of Pattaya. Although not fronting directly on to the beach, all guest rooms are set within mature and immaculately kept gardens and are only a five-minute walk away. The Woodlands Hotel is a good alternative to the bigger resort hotels in Pattaya and excellent value for money. Guest rooms are set in clusters of two or three-storey blocks, each with its own balcony or terrace overlooking the tropical gardens or pool. The resort also has Superior Pool and Suite Pool rooms with direct access to the pool from the balcony. Dining choices include The Garden Cafe, serving Thai and international cuisine, and La Baguette, based on a traditional French patisserie selling indulgent pastries and sandwiches throughout the day. The Woodlands also boasts two freeform swimming pools, so there is always plenty of space for sunbathing, and for those looking for further relaxation, a spa is available.
