Departures: Daily (excluding Sun) Day 1: Arrive Santiago & City Sightseeing On arrival at Santiago Airport you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for your three-night stay. This afternoon, discover this wonderful city on our Santiago sightseeing tour (see page 61). Standard: Galerias Hotel Deluxe: The Ritz-Carlton Day 2: Viña del Mar and Valparaíso Today, spend an unforgettable day at Viña del Mar, Chile's most fashionable beach resort. Discover nearby Valparaíso, a place bursting with character where hundreds of brightly coloured wooden houses cling to the hillside, and which is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site for its historic architecture and role as a merchant port. (B) Day 3: Vineyard Excursion Today you will have a chance to sample first hand the delightful and highly-regarded New World wines of Chile. You will enjoy a guided tour at one of the area's leading estates, such as Concha y Toro or Vinas Cavas del Maipo, covering every step of the wine-making process and including wine tasting. Enjoy spectacular scenery and views of the magnificent Andes on your return to Santiago. (B) Day 4: Santiago Atacama Desert This morning, depart Santiago for your flight (not included) to the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the wonderful adobe town of San Pedro de Atacama. Days 5 & 6: Atacama Desert Over the next two days, various activities and excursions are yours to enjoy. Discover the bubbling geysers of El Tatio, the giant dunes of the Moon Valley, the Atacama's white salt flats and pink flamingos, and learn of the area's anthropology on a fascinating walking tour. (BLD) Day 7: Atacama Desert - Chilean Lake District After an early breakfast, you will travel back to the airport for your flight (not included) to Puerto Montt. On arrival, transfer to your chosen hotel in the picturesque lakeside town of Puerto Varas for your three-night stay. (B) Standard: Hotel Bellavista Deluxe: Hotel and Cabañas del Lago Days 8 & 9: Chilean Lake District Enjoy your choice of two of the wonderful excursions below, dependent on the day of the week:
Torres del Paine - Optional Extension
Mon, Wed & Fri: Alerce Andino National Park Take a hike through the rugged but lush rainforest to the ancient larch trees of the Los Sargazos Lagoon. Tue, Thu, Fri & Sun: Frutillar & Puerto Octay Discover the charming summer beach resort of Frutillar, known for its German heritage, and the attractive village of Puerto Octay, on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. Tue, Thu & Sun: Osorno Volcano Travel along the shores of Lake Llanquihue to the emerald waterfalls at Petrohué. Enjoy lunch at a lakeside café at Lake Todos Los Santos, then continue to the magnificent Osorno Volcano. Hike through ancient forest to the Verde Lagoon and, after ascending 1,000 metres above sea level, stop to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Petrohué River Valley, the Andes and the Calbuco Volcano. (BL) Day 10: Depart Puerto Montt This morning, head south for a sightseeing tour of Puerto Montt, visiting the Angelmo fishing village along the way. Pick up some traditional last-minute gifts from the colourful handicraft market, before being transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)

Prices from £469 per person (excluding flights), based on three nights' twin share accommodation, and including breakfast and lunch, day trip to Torres del Paine, and return transfers.
