Tours for Independent Travellers Day 9: Sun Island ­ La Paz This morning visit the island's Inca ruins and fountain and enjoy lunch in a traditional restaurant before again boarding the hydrofoil. You will visit the floating reed islands of the Uros Indians and continue to Huatajata, where you will visit a cultural centre to learn more about the people and traditions of the Bolivian highlands before transferring onto a bus for the remainder of your journey to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia, for a two night stay. This vibrant and fascinating city nestles in a canyon almost 5km wide from rim to rim, an unforgettable sight, especially when approached by road. (BL) Standard: Hotel Presidente Superior & Deluxe: Hotel Europa Day 10: La Paz ­ City Sightseeing & Moon Valley Enjoy a morning tour of the city visiting the Plaza Murillo, site of the Cathedral, the Government Palace and the National Congress building. Continue to the unique Moon Valley, an intriguing area with fascinating geological formations. This afternoon is yours to spend at leisure. (B) Day 11: La Paz ­ Buenos Aires After breakfast, transfer to La Paz Airport for your flight (not included) to Buenos Aires. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for a three-night stay in this cosmopolitan and historical city. (BD) Day 13: Full Day at Leisure A free day to explore the wonderful city of Buenos Aires and really appreciate the diversity and different influences which has made this city what it is today. (B) Day 14: Buenos Aires ­ Iguassú Falls Today you will be transferred from your hotel to Buenos Aires domestic airport for your morning flight (not included) to Iguazú on the Argentine side of the falls. On arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel on the Brazilian side of the falls for a two-night stay in the heart of the National Park, just a stroll away from the viewing platforms. This afternoon has been left free for you to enjoy the amazing panoramic views and the spectacular scenery, or why not take a helicopter ride? The view from the air is truly spectacular and should not be missed (not included in the price, see page 28 for full details). (B) All Categories: Tropical Hotel das Cataratas Standard: Standard Room Superior: Superior Room Deluxe: Luxury Room Day 15: Iguassú Falls - Argentine Side This morning visit the Argentine side of these majestic falls and the Devil's Throat, one of South America's most impressive natural landmarks. Here, 35 rivers with over two hundred rapids finally join to form one of nature's most surprising spectacles. Numerous rainbows crown the falls and at ground level the exuberant forest, a wide variety of flowers, exotic birds and butterflies enhance the beauty of this amazing natural wonder. After your tour you will be transferred back to your hotel. (B) Day 16: Iguassú Falls ­ Rio de Janeiro After a leisurely breakfast, wander out on to the viewing platforms to take a last glimpse of the falls and beautiful surroundings. Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight (not included) to Rio de Janeiro. On arrival in Rio you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for a three-night stay. Travel by train through the dense and lush Tijuca forest to reach the top of Corcovado, crowned by the legendary Statue of Christ. From here you will discover why Rio is commonly referred to as the most beautiful city in the world. After a delicious lunch, travel to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain by cable car and marvel at the sight of this wonderful city, with its countless bays and curvaceous coastline. (BL) Day 18: Full Day at Leisure & Rio by Night Today is yours to do as you wish. Rio is famous for its golden beaches, enjoy the sea breezes and bask in the sun. Perhaps you may like to wander around old Rio, the place where it all began, or discover great shopping in Ipanema. After dark, Rio comes alive. This evening you will be collected from your hotel to enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner. Afterwards, watch a Samba show with elaborated costumed dancers and singers presenting Brazil's folklore and capturing the rhythms of Carnival. (BD) Day 19: Depart Rio There is time for some last-minute shopping before your transfer arrives to take you to Rio Airport for your homeward/onward flight.
