Iguassú The south of Brazil is best-known for the spectacular waterfalls at Iguassú, which straddle the border between Brazil and Argentina. The best time to visit is just after the wet season (November to March) as the water levels are at their peak, but the falls are stunning at any time of year. Beaches - Búzios & Angra dos Reis The fashionable beach resort of Búzios, playground of Brazil's rich and famous, is noted for its many beaches and its nightlife, while the smaller resorts of the Costa Verde, including Angra dos Reis, offer quiet relaxation in beautiful surroundings. All are within easy reach of Rio. The Amazon The Amazon rainforest provides a fifth of the world's oxygen and is home to a huge variety of bird and animal life. It is best explored by staying at one of the numerous jungle lodges which are easily accessible from Manaus, or on a cruise travelling up some of the remote rivers. The Pantanal Western Brazil covers the region around the capital city, Brasilia, and the vast wetland region of the Pantanal. Although not as well known as the Amazon, the Pantanal is the best place in Brazil to see native species such as caimans, freshwater dolphins and monkeys. Beaches - Salvador & The North Northeast Brazil is well known for its uninterrupted white sand beaches. The city of Salvador is renowned for its colonial buildings, lively mix of cultures & stunning beaches. Unique amongst Brazil's islands, head to idyllic Fernando de Noronha for great beaches and marine life. 22
