This morning, travel by train through the lush Tijuca Forest to reach the top of Corcovado. Here you will get up close to the awe-inspiring Statue of Christ, towering over the amazing city of Rio. After a delicious lunch, travel to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain by cable car. The view from here is unbeatable; marvel at the sight of countless bays and Rio's curvaceous coastline. (BL) Day 3: Day at Leisure & Rio by Night Today is yours to enjoy as you wish. Rio is famous for its golden beaches; enjoy the sea breeze and soak up the sun. Perhaps you may like to wander around old Rio, the place where it all began, or discover great shopping in Ipanema. After dark Rio comes alive. This evening, you will be collected from your hotel to watch a spectacular Samba show, with elaborately costumed dancers and singers presenting Brazil's folklore and capturing the rhythms of Carnival. (BD) Day 4: Rio � Iguass� Falls After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your flight (not included) to Iguass�. This afternoon, enjoy a stroll through the gardens of your hotel and later discover the Brazilian side of the world's largest waterfalls, set deep within stunning tropical forest. The views along the footpaths are magnificent; the platform allows direct access to the misty falls, a truly breathtaking experience. The falls from Argentina offer a completely different experience to the Brazilian side, both must be seen to be fully appreciated. (B) Day 6: Iguass� Falls � Manaus If you opt to take the afternoon flight, today there will be time for an unforgettable helicopter ride over the spectacular roaring falls (not included in the price, see page 28 for details). Later, transfer to the airport for your flight (not included) via Sao Paulo to Manaus, gateway to the Amazon. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. (B) Standard Room: Tropical Manaus (Standard Room) Deluxe Room: Tropical Manaus (Luxury Room) Day 7: The Amazon Depart Manaus at 2pm for a 2.5 hour journey into the heart of the Amazon, passing by the phenomenon of the 'Meeting of the Waters'. Your accommodation for the next three nights is at the simple yet comfortable Amazon Village Lodge, located on the stunning banks of Puraquequara Lake. Your wooden lodge has twin beds, private bathroom, and a veranda with a hammock. Please remember, you are in the Amazon, there is no hot water and electricity is limited to the evening hours. (BLD) Day 9: The Amazon After breakfast, depart around 9am for your guided canoe tour to visit river inlets and flooded forest. Try your hand at fishing; if you're lucky you may catch local fish such as tucunare, tambaqui and even the voracious piranha! This afternoon visit a native `Caboclo' dwelling and learn about their customs and way of life. (BLD) Day 10: Depart The Amazon After breakfast, return to Manaus by boat, arriving back at the airport at approx. 11.30am in time for your onward flight.
