Experience Argentina 4 Day Mendoza Wine Experience Departures: Daily Day 1: Arrive Mendoza On arrival in Mendoza, you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for a three-night stay. In the afternoon, enjoy a scheduled tour of this beautiful city, which is located in the heart of western Argentina's wine-producing region. Standard: Aconcagua Hotel Deluxe: Park Hyatt Hotel Day 2: Luján and Maipú Wineries Today, enjoy a full day scheduled tour of the wineries of the Luján de Cuyo and Maipú districts to the south of Mendoza. These areas form the 'prime zones' of Argentine wines, with Luján being renowned for its Malbec grapes, and Maipú producing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. Visit several vineyards for tasting, and enjoy a delicious lunch in a typical local restaurant. (BL) Day 3: Tupungato Wineries Your private full day tour today takes you to the Uco Valley vineyards, centred around the town of Tupungato in the Andes foothills. The difference in day and night temperatures at this altitude, combined with lots of sunlight, makes the valley ideal for developing wellbalanced red wine flavours. You will also be able to appreciate the surrounding snow-capped peaks, and stop for lunch in a local hostelry (additional cost). The afternoon is at leisure to explore this charming northwestern town. Situated in the Lerma Valley, it has wonderfully preserved colonial architecture, narrow streets, charming plazas and museums. Standard: Portal de Salta Hotel Superior: Hotel Solar de la Plaza Day 2: Cafayate Tour and Winery Travel along the cacti-covered Lerma Valley enjoying mountain scenery of fantastic colour variations, shapes and rock formations to the picturesque colonial town of Cafayate, declared a UNESCO national monument. Its streets are lined with baroque-style houses built in the late 19th century. Isolated in the Calchaquíes Valley, it produces delicious wines and is widely regarded as northern Argentina's most beautiful spot. Visit a local winery before returning to Salta for the evening. (B) Day 3: Humahuaca Gorge Depart early for a full-day tour to Humahuaca Gorge, visiting tiny Andean villages on the way. Also see the striking Hill of Seven Colours, the artist's haven of Tilcara with its archaeological museum and the Indian Fortress of Pucara. With only a couple of thousand Indian residents, Humahuaca is a sleepy yet enchanting Andean village which stands at an elevation of almost 3,000 metres.
