Machu Picchu in a Day by train
Departures: Daily Duration 14 hrs. Travel by train to Machu Picchu through unsurpassed scenic landscapes and along the beautiful Urubamba River. The train terminates in the small town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, from where a bus takes you up the steep hill to the entrance of the mystical 'Lost City' of Machu Picchu. Your guide will bring these awesome ruins, recently voted as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, back to life and explain their fascinating history. You will have plenty of time to explore further before and after lunch. Late in the afternoon you will begin your journey back to Cuzco, arriving at your hotel early evening. Day 1: Arrive Cuzco On arrival at Cuzco, you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for a two-night stay. Take time to rest to ensure you get acclimatised to the altitude before joining your guide for a fabulous sightseeing tour of this beautiful city. This evening enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant with a colourful folklore show. Standard: Casa Andina Cuzco Plaza Superior: Jose Antonio Deluxe: Monasterio Cuzco (Deluxe room) Day 2: Machu Picchu Sightseeing Leaving at 6am, take the train to Machu Picchu, the fabled 'Lost City of the Incas'. Travel through dramatic scenery and along the beautiful Urubamba River to the vibrant village of Aguas Calientes. From here it is just a 30-minute bus ride to the entrance to the magical 'Lost City'. Your guide will bring these awesome ruins back to life and will explain the history of the amazing Inca civilisation. You will have plenty of time to explore the ruins for yourself before and after
lunch. Later this afternoon browse through the local markets before beginning your journey back to Cuzco. Day 3: Depart Cuzco After breakfast, you will be transferred to the station or airport for your onward journey.
