Departures: Daily (except Thu & Fri) Day 1: Arrive Cuzco On your arrival into Cuzco, a private transfer will be waiting to take you to the legendary Monasterio Hotel (see page 43). Built as a monastery in 1592, today the hotel remains an oasis of elegance and grace. Here you can feel the presence of the past as you are pampered with every luxurious and modern comfort that you would expect to be associated with an Orient Express Hotel. Spend a relaxed afternoon getting accustomed to the altitude, and a wonderful evening acquainting yourself with Cuzco. Overnight: Orient Express Monasterio, Cuzco Day 2: Cuzco - The Sacred Valley This morning, your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel for your VIP tour into the Sacred Valley. Your first stop is at Pisac's famed market which draws many sellers in the typical dress of remote Peruvian villages who come to sell handicrafts and local produce. After lunch, continue to Ollantaytambo, a charming village where the imposing ruins of a massive Inca temple fortress cling to the valley walls. There will be plenty of time to explore the fortress before finishing the day at the luxurious Casa Andina Private Collection, a delightful hotel in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Day 3: The Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Ollantaytambo Station to board the `Hiram Bingham', a luxury train that reflects the 1920s Pullman era, to travel to the `Lost City of the Incas'. This ultimate rail experience boasts an elegant and sophisticated, but still relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Brunch is served on board as the train passes through unsurpassed scenery along the course of the Urubamba River. On arrival at the town of Aguas Calientes it is just a 30-minute drive to the entrance of Machu Picchu. The views and the ruins are remarkable and your guide will bring this awesome `Lost City' and the Inca civilisation back to life. Tonight, stay at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, a peaceful haven on the mountaintop, just seconds from the actual ruins. (BLD) Overnight: Orient Express Sanctuary Lodge, Machu Picchu Day 4: Machu Picchu - Cuzco Today, there will be plenty of time to explore the ruins at leisure. Wake up early and relish the serenity as the sun's rays creep silently over the jagged silhouette and slowly cast brilliant light on the ruins building by building, an overwhelming and unforgettable experience. Depart at 6pm and enjoy pre-dinner cocktails, live entertainment and indulge in a gourmet five-course meal on board the luxury 'Hiram Bingham'. Arrive into Cuzco late this evening for your last night at the elegant Monasterio Hotel.
