Lake Titicaca
According to ancient myths, the founders of the Inca Empire rose from Lake Titicaca. This enormous lake straddles the border between Peru and Bolivia and, at 3,800 metres, is the world's highest navigable waterway. Puno, on the shores of the lake, is famous for its colourful folk festivals. It is also an ideal base from which to take a boat out to see the fascinating floating Uros Islands and communities of the lake. Lake Titicaca is accessible by air, road, or luxury train.
3 Day Lake Titicaca Experience
Departures: Daily Day 1: Arrive Puno On arrival in Puno, you will be met at the bus or train station and transferred to your choice of hotel on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Transfers from the airport in nearby Juliaca can be arranged at additional cost. Standard: Sonesta Posada del Inca Puno Superior: Casa Andina Private Collection, Puno Day 2: Lake Titicaca This morning, you'll be taken by boat onto the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca, to visit the Floating Islands of the intriguing and colourfully dressed Uros Indians. The islands are constructed from many layers of totora reeds, which rot away from the bottom and are replaced at the top. Walking on the small islands is a must and very safe despite the soft, springy sensation as you tread! You'll see reed boats and can visit the homes of the islanders. This afternoon you will visit the beautiful island of Taquile, where there is no electricity or vehicles and life remains very traditional. This evening, don't miss the chance of stargazing, which, at 3,800 metres and with no large citites nearby, can be spectacular! There are a number of pleasant restaurants and bars in Puno. (BL) Day 3: Depart Puno After breakfast, your tour comes to an end. You will be transferred to Juliaca Airport for your onward flight, or the train station for your journey to Cuzco. (B)
Note: should you wish to stay in Cuzco before or after your tour, please enquire about bus and rail travel between Puno and Cuzco.

5 Day Crossing Lake Titicaca & Bolivia Experience

Board a catamaran and enjoy lunch as you cruise to Sun Island, the legendary birthplace of the Incas, visiting the temples of Moon Island en-route. You will spend the night at the Posada del Inca Eco Lodge on Sun Island (see adjacent page for details), which offers comfortable accommodation and unrivalled night-time stargazing. (BL) Overnight: Posada del Inca Eco Lodge Day 3: Sun Island (Lake Titicaca) - La Paz After a buffet breakfast, visit the Inca Steps and Sacred Fountain, before catching a boat or hydrofoil across the lake to the port at Huatajata. Here, you will have an enjoyable visit to the Andean Roots eco village, before continuing by bus into Bolivia's capital city, La Paz, for a two-night stay. (BL) Standard: Presidente Hotel Superior: Europa Hotel Day 4: La Paz Sightseeing This morning's tour of La Paz takes in the historical centre before heading out of the city to visit the spectacular canyons and pinnacles of Moon Valley. The afternoon is at leisure to explore some of La Paz's intriguing sights. (B) Day 5: Depart La Paz Following breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
