Days 6-11: Salvador de Bahia Flight to Salvador de Bahia. Salvador has a culture and rhythm of its own. With a strong African-Portuguese influence and beautifully preserved colonial buildings, we highly recommend a panoramic sightseeing tour as well as the `Bahia by Night' tour including dinner and a show of various traditional dances. There are plenty of lovely beaches and islands to explore in Salvador! For a particularly idyllic place, stay at the Praia do Forte Eco Resort, an hours' drive from Salvador, for white-sand, near-deserted beaches in lush, tropical surroundings (see pages 31-32).
