Located in the heart of prestigious Ipanema beach, the Philippe Starck-designed Fasano opened its doors in August 2007 and is now one of Rio's best deluxe options. The hotel's elegant and understated décor is highlighted with original artworks from the 1950s and 60s and is complemented with modern amenities to create a cosy and elegant atmosphere. The Brazilians know how to throw a great party, and the Rio Carnival is probably the best party in the world! Every year, for five full days, the streets and beaches of Rio come to life and partying until dawn becomes compulsory. There is an endless succession of extravagant floats, brilliant costumes, magical music and amazingly energetic dancers. The main organised processions take place on Sunday and Monday in the specially constructed Sambadrome, with a smaller `winners' parade' on the following Saturday. In addition to the street parties and samba parades, many hotels and bars hold carnival balls which cater for all ages and tastes. If you'd like to join the party, ask us for details.
