Day 1: Arrive Lima On arrival in Lima you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for an overnight stay. Standard: Casa Andina Lima Deluxe: Miraflores Park Hotel Day 2: Lima - Cuzco After breakfast, transfer to Lima airport for your flight (not included) to Cuzco and, on arrival, transfer to your chosen accommodation for an overnight stay. This afternoon, your guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of Cuzco to discover the amazing architecture and the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman. (B) Standard: Casa Andina Cuzco Plaza Deluxe: Monasterio Cuzco (Deluxe Room) Day 3: The Sacred Valley An early departure this morning for a scenic journey into the Sacred Valley. The first stop is made at the colourful Indian market at Pisac, where you will have the opportunity to wander around the stalls and experience the local atmosphere. After lunch at a traditional restaurant, travel to Ollantaytambo, a charming village surrounded by snowcapped mountains. The village has remained virtually unchanged since Inca times and is home to a remarkable stone fortress. There will be plenty of time to explore the fortress before checking into tonight's hotel, where you can relax and enjoy sensational views of the mountains. (BL) Standard: Pakaritampu Hotel Deluxe: Sol & Luna Day 4: Machu Picchu Today visit Machu Picchu, an experience that will live in your memory forever. Depart from Ollantaytambo by train and enjoy a stunning scenic journey to the town of Aguas Calientes. From here, it is a 30-minute bus ride to the entrance of the `Lost City of the Incas'. the views and ruins are breathtaking and your guide will bring their history to PERU Machu Picchu BRAZIL Lima 75mins Cuzco 1hr 35mins Lake Titicaca Puno Rail Land Air life. Later you will have time to explore the ruins by yourself, and depending on your choice of accommodation you may spend the evening at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, a peaceful haven on the mountain top just seconds from the actual ruins. Alternatively, stay in Aguas Calientes and enjoy the vibrant village atmosphere. Standard: Hatuchay Hotel (BL) Deluxe: Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge (BLD) Day 5: Machu Picchu - Cuzco The morning is at leisure. You may want to return to the ruins for sunrise or browse through the colourful market stalls of Aguas Calientes before this afternoon's train journey back to Cuzco. On arrival in the early evening, you will be transferred to your hotel for the night. (B) Standard: Casa Andina Cuzco Plaza Deluxe: Monasterio Cuzco (Deluxe Room) Day 6: Cuzco - Puno You will be collected early from the hotel and taken to the bus station to board the bus to Puno. Discover unrivalled views of the towering Andes, remote villages and rolling plains where llamas and vicuñas are often seen. On arrival in Puno, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay. Lake Titicaca is the world's highest navigable lake from where it is believed that the cultural founder of the Incas, Manco Capac, originated. (BL) Standard: Sonesta Posada del Inca Puno Deluxe: Casa Andina Private Collection Puno Day 7: Lake Titicaca Enjoy a boat trip on the beautiful lake, visiting the Uros Islands, home to the intriguing and colourfully-dressed Uros Indians. These amazing islands are constructed from many layers of totora reeds, which rot away from the bottom and are replaced at the top. Walking on the small islands is a must, and very safe despite the soft, springy sensation as you tread! Continue to the stunningly beautiful island of Taquile where you will enjoy a leisurely lunch. The island has been inhabited for 10,000 years and life here remains very traditional. There are no vehicles, and limited electricity, and the islanders quietly go about their day-today business. This evening, back on the mainland, don't miss the chance of stargazing. At 3,800 metres and with no large cities nearby, it can be spectacular. (BL) Day 8: Puno - Lima (B) After breakfast, you will be transferred to Juliaca Airport for your flight (not included) back to Lima - watch out for great views of the Andes! On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Tonight is yours to spend at leisure - why not enjoy a traditional Pisco Sour and dinner at a restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean?
