Suggested Itineraries If you're not quite sure what travel experience you're looking for, getting started can sometimes be a little daunting. Which is where Travelbag's expert Travel Consultants come in. Because they've actually experienced New Zealand, they can help you plan your trip and give you the inspiration you need. Here are just a couple of ideas for combinations in New Zealand. Best of the North 9 Days Auckland - Wellington Days 1-3: Auckland - Bay of Islands - Coromandel Whether taking a round-the-world trip, visiting friends and family or holidaying in New Zealand, this nine day itinerary is ideal for anyone wanting to see the highlights of the North Island. Head north from Auckland and discover the wonderful scenery of the Bay of Islands. With over 100 sandy coves and deserted islands, this is a perfect place to take to the water, relax and unwind. Then travel south to the Coromandel Peninsula for more wonderful sandy beaches and lush scenery; this is a favourite North Island holiday destination for locals and visitors alike. Days 4-7: Rotorua - Taupo - Napier The second part of this itinerary takes you inland to the thermal wonderland of Rotorua. The landscape here is quite extraordinary with bubbling mud pools and steaming geysers. En route to Napier, we suggest you visit Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest and possibly most beautiful lake. Take in the fabulous scenery here before enjoying Napier's famed Art Deco architecture and history. Why not see the sights by vintage car (see page 52)? Finally, enjoy the harbourside city of Wellington at the southern tip of the North Island. Savour the cosmopolitan way of life before flying out from here or crossing to the South Island by ferry. Scenery, Food and Wine 11 Days Christchurch - Auckland Days 1-4: Christchurch - Marlborough Well known for its scenic delights, New Zealand is also a popular food and wine destination and this suggested itinerary takes in the best places to look for gourmet delights.
