West Coast
Driving Driving in New Zealand couldn't be easier, generally outside of city locations there is little traffic congestion and good roads. There is an excellent network of scenic drives which are clearly signposted and easy to follow. Possibly the biggest bonus if you are driving in New Zealand is that they drive on the left too. In New Zealand, the speed limits are 100 km per hour (60 mph) on the open road and 50 km per hour (30 mph) in urban areas. There are service stations on the major roads and distance is measured in kilometres. Tour Itineraries We have carefully planned our itineraries to ensure that you do not spend too much time driving, yet still see the real highlights. They will take away the hard work for you as you don't have to plan your route every day. Armed with your Avis rental car, comprehensive driving instructions and pre-booked accommodation, driving becomes fun and easy - giving you more time to see the sights. We have a variety of itineraries which vary in length, so however long you have; there should be something to suit. If you would like to extend your stay at any of the featured properties along the way, we will be happy to provide you with a quotation. Accommodation Gradings In most of our pre-planned self-drive tours, we offer two grades of accommodation for you to choose from: either standard or superior. These grades are based on facilities available and the location of the hotel. Should the hotel stated in the itinerary not be available at the time of booking, one of a similar standard/location will be offered as an alternative. Please note that in certain areas the superior option will include higher quality accommodaton than the standard option, but the accommodation will not necessarily be standard or superior in itself. This is primarily in more remote areas where there are not as many accommodation alternatives.
Single Travellers & Small Groups The tours we feature have been based on two passengers sharing a car and a room. However, prices for single travellers and groups of three or more are available on request.
