The wonderful, boutique-style Argonaut Hotel is located at the heart of Fisherman's Wharf, and was originally built as a peach-canning factory way back in 1907. The building was slated for demolition after it fell out of use in the 1960s but is today recognised as one of the country's first and most innovative historic building redevelopments. The Argonaut retains many of the building's original features, and some guestrooms include original brick walls, large timber beams and warehouse steel doors. The cable car turnaround point is a couple of minutes' walk from the hotel, providing easy access to downtown San Francisco and Union Square.
