If you are feeling a little more energetic you can enjoy wonderful outdoor activities including scenic walks, horse riding, rafting and an exhilarating ride on the Athabasca Glacier. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Calgary. On arrival transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. DAY 2 - Transfer to your hotel in Banff for a four night stay. Rest of the day free to explore or take an exciting optional helicopter flight. Dinner this evening is included. DAY 3 - Today we include a walk in the beautiful Sunshine Meadows, where colourful wildflowers set against mountain peaks make for a stunning setting. DAY 4 - Today you'll enjoy an included guided horseback trail ride and a barbecue lunch, followed by an included raft ride this afternoon on the Kananaskis River. DAY 5 - Today we include a three-hour walk around Lake Louise, renowned as one of the most beautiful spots in Canada. Includes a picnic lunch. DAY 6 - Morning departure for Jasper. Along the way we stop at the Great Columbian Icefield for an included ice explorer ride on the Athabasca Glacier. Continue to your hotel in Jasper for a three night stay. DAY 7 - Join an unforgettable included walk today around Maligne Canyon, where you will discover the folklore and mystery that surrounds the canyon and the `disappearing' Medicine Lake. Afternoon free or join an optional excursion. DAY 8 - At leisure to enjoy individual sightseeing and exploration. Alternatively join one of our optional excursions, including a nature walk, horse riding and a float trip. DAY 9 - Depart Jasper and travel over the Yellow Head Pass, passing Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, before continuing to Kamloops for an overnight stay. DAY 10 - Continue via the rugged Fraser River Canyon to Vancouver, where you will stay for three nights. DAY 11 - Included introductory city tour of Vancouver which has one of the most beautiful settings of any city in the world, surrounded by mountains, forests and beautiful islands. Afternoon free to relax, go shopping or sightseeing. DAY 12 - Today you can join an optional full day excursion to charming Victoria on Vancouver Island. DAY 13 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. DAY 14 - Arrival in the UK. WALKING INFORMATION A good level of fitness is required for this holiday as walks include steep inclines and uneven ground. You will need to take comfortable walking boots and a small rucksack for water-proofs, a snack and drink. A local guide will also accompany you on your walks. Grade 1 Walks These are for anyone of any age. Plenty of rest stops and time to enjoy the local scenery with up to 4 hours walking a day, mostly on good paths but occasionally rough underfoot. Ascent less than 300m per day. Grade 2 Walks These are moderate, for anyone who is comfortable walking hills. Still plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery, however up to 5 hours walking a day on slightly more rugged terrain. Ascent less than 500m per day.
