Texas, The Lone Star State, is a land of wide open skies, amazing scenery, thriving cities and a fascinating history. On this super tour, you'll sample the many flavours of Texas Native American, Mexican and European have the chance to wander through incredible desert landscapes and relive the days of the Wild West. Discover what made Texas what she is today perhaps the most exciting, proud and dynamic state in America.
YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to El Paso, Texas. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. DAY 2 - Discover El Paso's historic Mission Trail, which features three old churches; the Ysleta Mission, the Socorro Mission and the San Elcear Chapel. You can also visit the Tigua Culture Center, dedicated to Native American culture. This evening take a walk across the bridge to Juarez, Mexico. Enjoy an authentic Mexican meal and wander through the marketplace. DAY 3 - Morning departure to Fort Davis to visit the Fort Davis National Historic Site, and the nearby McDonald Observatory. Continue to the breathtaking Davis Mountains State Park for lunch, then Alpine for an overnight stay. DAY 4 - Today we drive south to Presidio. The road hugs the Rio Grande, passing the spectacular scenery of Big Bend National Park. We include a guided walk through Big Bend before visiting the ghost town of Terlingua. Enjoy a trip down the Rio Grande with lunch on the river banks. Afternoon free to explore Big Bend. Continue to Big Bend for an overnight stay. DAY 5 - Morning drive to Odessa, via Marathon and Fort Stockton. Here you'll see the historic fort and the Annie Riggs Memorial Museum. You'll then visit Odessa, which offers a variety of shops, activities, and a replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Tonight you will stay in Odessa. DAY 6 - A morning drive to Abilene. En route visit the Buffalo Gap Historic Village, a living history museum that brings to life the old Western Frontier. Continue to Abilene for an overnight stay. DAY 7 - Today we travel to Fort Worth for a two night stay. Spend the afternoon at the Stock Yards to visit the Livestock Exchange, Cowtown Coliseum and the Stock Yards Museum. Have a drink in the White Horse Saloon and shop along Exchange Avenue. DAY 8 - Join our included excursion to Dallas, the third-largest city in the state of Texas. You will tour Dallas city centre, visit the Kennedy Centre, site of President John F Kennedy's assasination in 1963 and see the Dallas Cowboys' Stadium. This afternoon take an optional excursion to the famous Southfork Ranch, setting for the hit TV show Dallas. DAY 9 - Free time to explore Dallas before transferring to the airport for your return flight to the UK. DAY 10 - Arrival in the UK.
