DAYS 1 TO 3 - As the main Scenic California & Las Vegas itinerary. DAY 4 - Depart Napa for a two night stay in Sacramento. On arrival we include a visit to the Railroad museum and a city orientation tour. DAY 5 - Today you will visit the small and friendly wineries of Amador, located amongst some of California's most picturesque rural settings. Here you will get to taste some of the locally produced wines. DAY 6 - Depart Sacramento for your drive to Lodi, where the classic Californian climate of warm days and cool evenings is ideal for the local vintners to make great wines. You will visit the Lodi Wine & Visitors Centre prior to visiting wineries for a tasting. From Lodi, you will continue to Mariposa and the Yosemite National Park, as per day 4 of the main itinerary. Rows of beautifully manicured vineyards on rolling hillsides; picturesque valley floors; neat, welcoming communities such as St. Helena and Calistoga; and world-famous names on all sides � this gentle and idyllic region around Sonoma and Napa is unmissable. We include a visit to a vineyard for wine tasting and an opportunity to buy some of the excellent local wine. DAY 4 - Depart Napa this morning and drive through lovely countryside to Mariposa, the gateway to Yosemite National Park. En route you will visit a winery, where you can sample some of the local produce. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. DAY 5 - Our full day included excursion takes you to the awe-inspiring Yosemite National Park. The Yosemite Valley was made by glaciers, which gouged their way through the canyon of the Merced River. One of the world's most dramatic spectacles with its near vertical cliffs, sparkling waterfalls, grassy meadows, woods, deer and coyotes, this remarkable park cannot fail to impress. DAY 6 - Today you will travel from Merced to South Lake Tahoe, calling en route at Sonora, a former gold mining town. Upon arrival at South Lake Tahoe, transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. This yearround resort straddles the California and Nevada state line, resulting in the fact that at one end of the town you can gamble in lavish casinos whilst at the other such activity is forbidden! DAY 7 - Our included half-day tour of Lake Tahoe takes you through lovely countryside amid the snowcapped peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Lake Tahoe is surrounded by vast forests of ponderosa pine. Along the dazzling shoreline are fine, sandy beaches, peppered with campgrounds. There's plenty to do, including the chance to take a paddlewheel boat cruise. DAY 8 - Today you will continue your journey and travel south to the historic mining town of Tonopah for a one night stay. En route you will visit Virginia City, an old silver mining township. Founded in 1900, Tonopah produced extraordinary amounts of silver. The whole region's mining history is well documented at the Tonopah Mining Park and the Central Nevada Museum in town. DAY 9 - Today you're bound for the bright lights of Las Vegas! Your journey takes you south and into the famous Death Valley. You will make a stop en route at the Visitor Centre. Through the Amargossa Valley and past the Spring Mountains, your journey continues to Las Vegas for a three night stay. DAY 10 - Free in Las Vegas where we include a short sightseeing tour. In the evening there will be an optional Las Vegas by Night tour. The casinos never close and you will have plenty of opportunity to watch the gambling or perhaps have a go yourself! DAY 11 - Join one of our optional tours by air to the Grand Canyon, a spectacular gorge, with a panorama of staggering depths, strange rock formations and brilliant colours. Not only will you fly over the Canyon itself, but you can also choose to visit the South Rim for magnificent views. The evening is free for you to explore Las Vegas further. The themed hotels are remarkable, offering a huge range of experiences and culinary delights. Make sure you take a look at New York-New York, the MGM Grand, the Luxor, Venetian and Paris. Las Vegas shopping is super and the evening cabaret shows, many featuring world famous stars, are amazing. DAY 12 - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
