dENALI NATIONAL PARK
The vast scenic wonderland of Alaska is a wilderness beyond belief the largest state in the USA, yet sparsely populated and tranquil. Our spectacular tour weaves its way back and forth across the US-Canada border, taking in the frozen majesty of Alaska, and the wild and untamed Canadian territory of the Yukon, synonymous with the Klondike and the worlds last great gold rush and home to yet more incredible wildlife.
YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to anchorage. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. DAY 2 - This morning there will be an included introductory tour of Anchorage. The city is the commercial hub of Alaska, set against majestic mountains on the beautiful Cook Inlet. Enjoy an included cruise on Prince William Sound for a close-up view of spectacular glaciers. DAY 3 - Morning departure for the drive to Canada. Pass through the Matanuska Valley, surrounded by stunning mountains and glaciers, then Wrangell-St. Elias national Park and Preserve. The park is home to immense glaciers and nine of the highest peaks in North America. Cross the border into Canada and Yukon Territory, for an overnight stop in the Beaver Creek area. DAY 4 - Depart Beaver Creek for the drive to Whitehorse for a three night stay. Known as the Wilderness City, Whitehorse is the capital of the Yukon. It nestles on the banks of the Yukon River, surrounded by mountains and clear lakes. DAY 5 - This morning we include a sightseeing tour of the city. See the SS Klondike, historic Miles Canyon and the longest fish ladder in the world. The afternoon is at leisure for you to make your own discoveries. DAY 6 - Transfer to Fraser to board the White Pass & Yukon Railroad to Skagway. The railway was born of the Klondike Gold Rush, passing through some of Canadas most forbidding terrain. Today it is a comfortable and unforgettable ride through history. On arrival in Skagway you will have free time to explore this picturesque town, whose wooden sidewalks and turn of the century buildings recall the riotous living of those bygone days. Later this afternoon return to Whitehorse by coach. DAY 7 - Morning departure for the drive northwest on the Klondike Highway to dawson City, only 150 miles south of the Arctic Circle.
