Your Hotels
You will stay in hotels such as the Zhao an Hotel in Shanghai, the Xian Hotel in Xian and the Friendship Hotel in Beijing. All rooms have private facilities, air-conditioning or heating as required, TV, telephone and a constant supply of tea as is the custom in Chinese hotels. Other facilities include western and Chinese restaurants and bar.

This three-centre tour is packed with interest and offers an ideal, value-for-money introduction to the beauty, history and way of life behind the Bamboo Curtain. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on your scheduled flight to Shanghai. DAY 2 - Arrival in Shanghai, where you will be met by our Tour Manager and your Chinese guide and transferred to your hotel for a three night stay. DAY 3 - Shanghai is a vibrant and exciting city. Our included sightseeing programme offers the best of Shanghai. Highlights include the thronging shopping thoroughfare of Nanjing Road, the traditional Old Town, with its ancient Wu Xing Ting Teahouse, and the Yu Yuan Gardens, a classic Chinese garden. You will also visit the beautiful Jade Buddha Temple and have time to stroll along The Bund, the citys famous riverside boulevard. This evening there is an included visit to an Acrobatic Show. DAY 4 - Join our full day included tour by train to Suzhou, situated on Chinas historic Grand Canal, and famous for its gardens and traditional architecture. Sightseeing includes the Lingering Garden and the Humble Ministers Garden. A cruise on the canal and lunch are included. DAY 5 - Transfer to the airport for your flight to Xian. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a two night stay. Afternoon tour of Xian, including the Goose Pagoda and the city wall. Dinner this evening at your hotel. DAY 6 - Xian was once the flourishing capital of China and the most important city in Asia. The recent archaeological discoveries near the city have staggered the imagination, for it is here that the Qin emperor was interred in 200BC with at least 6,000 life-size terracotta figures representing the individuals of the Imperial Guard. We include a visit to the site of this Terracotta Army at Li Shan Mountain. During the day you will also visit the Han Tombs. In the evening, join our optional Tang Dynasty folklore show. DAY 7 - Transfer to the airport for your flight to Beijing. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a three night stay. During the afternoon you will be taken on an included introductory city tour. You will see Chang An Avenue and the strikingly beautiful Temple of Heaven. This ornate structure made entirely of wood was built in 1420 and is still used as a hall of prayer for good harvests.
Your Meals
All meals are included whilst in China. Breakfast is western continental style followed by Chinese lunch and dinner, each consisting of a wide variety of tasty dishes. Beer and soft drinks are always available.
