Enjoy a festive dinner on Christmas Eve, sample the famous Madeira wine and explore the islands charms on our optional excursions.
Your ItInerarY MonDaY 22nd - Fly from a choice of regional airports to Funchal, and transfer to your hotel for a seven night stay. Levada Walk & Camacha: Enjoy beautiful scenery and magnificent views as you walk along the islands water channels, known as levadas, which were created to bring water from the highlands to the lower regions. We continue to Camacha to visit the wickerwork centre. (approx. 2 hours walk) Folklore Evening: Treat yourself to a night out at a local restaurant to enjoy dinner and be entertained by Madeiran folk dancers. MonDaY 29th - Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Your Hotel You will stay at the Hotel Dom Pedro Garajau, situated in the residential area of the village of Garajau, approximately six miles from the centre of Funchal. The hotel enjoys a peaceful location and wonderful views across the bay. Amenities include a restaurant, bar, TV lounge, swimming pools and games room. The hotel bedrooms are situated in a separate complex, connected to the main building.They feature private facilities, TV telephone, balcony, or terrace and some have a kitchenette. A special festive dinner is included on Christmas Eve at the hotel and entertainment is provided on most evenings. There are a number of shops, bars and restaurants around the hotel, plus a frequent bus service into Funchal.

tueSDaY 23rd to SunDaY 28th - Take a walk through Funchals lovely old cobbled streets with their red-roofed, whitewashed houses and distinctly Portuguese flavour, relax in one of the pavement cafés and bars overlooking the picturesque harbour, and browse through the shops. We will visit the Botanical Gardens and an embroidery factory on our included introductory tour of the citys old quarter and enjoy a tasting of the famous Madeira wine. On Christmas Eve we will enjoy a special festive dinner. Relax at your hotel or discover Madeiras many charms on our optional excursion programme: Island Tour: A full day scenic tour of Madeira includes the Ribeiro Frio park, the waterfalls at Sao Vincente and the volcanic rock pools at Porto Moniz. Crater & Toboggan: A half day excursion to see the crater of an extinct volcano at Nuns Valley, before continuing to the picturesque village of Monte where you can take an exhilarating toboggan ride down the steep, three-mile hill to Funchal. The traditional wicker toboggans are pushed by two men who use the rubber soles of their boots as a brake!
