Few places are as magical as beautiful Bavaria in southern germany, especially at Christmas time. enchanting medieval towns and fairy tale castles plus views of forests, hills and lakes simply take your breath away.
Your base is Markt Taschendorf, a small village set in the heart of the beautiful Steigerwald nature park between Würzburg and Nuremburg. Its the ideal location for exploring the surrounding area known as Franconia, with half-timbered houses and historic churches, wonderful gastronomy and, of course, Bavarian hospitality! Your ItInerarY MonDaY 22nd - Local departure for a mid-morning crossing to Calais. Continue into Germany for an overnight stop in the Koblenz area on a bed and breakfast basis. tueSDaY 23rd - Enjoy a drive through the scenic Rhine Gorge before continuing to Markt Taschendorf. Arrive at your hotel late afternoon for a four night stay. Welcome drink and dinner. CHrIStMaS eVe - Optional half day tour to the delightful medieval town of Rothenberg ob der Tauber. We include a walking tour, taking in the Town Hall, the Patrician Houses and the fortifications of the old town. Traditional German Christmas Eve dinner this evening. CHrIStMaS DaY - Included three-quarter day excursion to the historic town of Bamberg, located on the Regnitz River. You will see Little Venice, a cluster of fishermans houses, before continuing to Coburg, a former Ducal capital dominated by its castle the Veste Coburg. festive Christmas dinner in the hotel this evening. BoXInG DaY - Optional three-quarter day tour to Nuremburg. The mighty castle towers above the romantic old town with its impressive city walls and crooked little half-timbered houses.

After a panoramic coach and walking tour, you will have free time to explore. Dance evening at the hotel. SaturDaY 27th - After breakfast depart and return to your final overnight stop in the Aachen area, on a bed and breakfast basis. SunDaY 28th - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon crossing back to the UK. Return to your original departure point in the evening. Your Hotel You will stay at the Landgasthof Wellmann, a comfortable family-run hotel, in Markt Taschendorf. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and all bedrooms have private facilities and TV. Please note the hotel does not have a lift.

We have chosen the delightful village of Rickenbach for your festive break, which is ideally situated for excursions to the Rhine Falls in Switzerland and Freiburg at the edge of the Black Forest. Weve planned a leisurely journey with an overnight hotel stop in each direction and visits to Colmar and Strasbourg along the way. Your ItInerarY MonDaY 22nd - Local departure and a midmorning crossing to Calais. Overnight stay in northern France. tueSDaY 23rd - Proceed through France to Colmar where you can enjoy a stroll through the picturesque medieval centre. Continue to Rickenbach in the southern Black Forest for a four night stay. Welcome drink and dinner. CHrIStMaS eVe - Optional three-quarter day excursion to the Rhine Falls. We cross into Switzerland to view the spectular Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen. We also visit the pretty town of Stein am Rhine. Festive Christmas Eve dinner in the evening. CHrIStMaS DaY - Included scenic tour of the southern Black Forest, visiting picturesque Titisee. Traditional Christmas dinner in the evening. BoXInG DaY - Optional three-quarter day scenic tour visiting Freiburg, one of Germanys most attractive towns with its Gothic Cathedral and quaint shopping streets. SunDaY 28th - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon crossing back to the UK returning to your original departure point in the evening. Your Hotel You will stay in the friendly family-run Alemannenhof Hotel Engel. Facilities at the hotel include a lift, bar and restaurant renowned for its fine cuisine, plus a sauna, steam room and hot whirlpool. A solarium and bowling alley are available at extra cost.
