Your ItInerarY SunDaY 28th - Depart on your scheduled flight to Düsseldorf. On arrival transfer to the Rhine and board MV Serenade I for your five night cruise. Enjoy a welcome cocktail followed by dinner this evening. Overnight in Düsseldorf. MonDaY 29th - Cruise to Koblenz arriving early afternoon. Here you will have free time to explore this lovely old town, situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers and dating back 2,000 years. Stroll around the narrow winding streets and romantic squares. Highlights include the Deutsches Eck, or German Corner, home to the enormous Kaiser Wilhelm memorial: the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress perched high above the river with magnificent views of the city; the neo-classic Kurfürstliches Schloss completed in 1786; and the Alte Burg castle adapted from the Roman fortifications in the 17th century. Rejoin the ship and enjoy an optional wine tasting followed by dinner. Overnight in Koblenz. tueSDaY 30th - Today our cruise passes through the dramatic scenery of the Rhine Gorge, passing the famous Lorelei Rock. Theres no better way to appreciate the magnificent splendour of the Rhine than from the river itself, which countless sailors have navigated over the centuries. We arrive at the popular wine town of Rüdesheim in the afternoon. You will have plenty of time to walk around this pretty riverside village and soak up the atmosphere of the famous narrow street, the Drosselgasse, with its traditional wine taverns. FrIDaY 2nd JanuarY 2009 - Disembark after breakfast and transfer to Amsterdam Airport for your return flight to the UK. Your rIVer cruISer MV Serenade I has 68 air-conditioned cabins over 3 decks, all feature private facilities, twin beds, a small seating area, satellite TV, telephone, fridge, safe and hairdryer. The ship is beautifully furnished and facilities include a panoramic lounge and bar, dining room, large partially covered sun deck, small gymnasium and sauna. A stair lift accesses all decks and there are six steps to reach the sun deck. Dining on board is one of the highlights of your cruise, with buffet breakfast, lunch and evening meals with both regional and international flavours. Morning coffee and afternoon tea are also served in the lounge. A pianist will provide live music each evening. We are offering three grades of cabin: Beethoven Deck (lower deck) - situated on the lower deck, cabins feature twin beds and a standard window. Mozart Deck (middle deck) - situated on the middle deck, cabins feature twin beds and full length sliding French windows. Chopin Deck (upper deck) - situated on the upper deck, cabins feature twin beds with full length sliding French windows.

neW YearS eVe - Morning cruise back through the Rhine Gorge to Cologne. Get into party mood both onboard and ashore as you prepare for the evenings festivities. Take a stroll ashore and look round the city, dominated by the immense Gothic cathedral, which is beautiful inside and worth a visit. Chocoholics may want to visit the chocolate factory and see their favourites in the making. Return to the ship to enjoy a special dinner on board before welcoming in 2009 watching a spectacular fireworks display. neW YearS DaY - Morning cruise from Cologne to Arnhem in the Netherlands. After lunch on board, you will have an opportunity to visit Arnhem in the afternoon and inspect the scene of the ill-fated battle for the Bridge Too Far.
