The mighty Rhine casts a magical spell as it weaves its way through vineyards and forested hillsides. Almost every hilltop has its own fairy tale castle. In quaint riverside villages halftimbered houses reach out to meet each other across narrow streets. The scenic Moselle Valley has many picture postcard villages with welcoming taverns and the gently flowing river exudes an air of peace and tranquillity. neW YearS eVe - Relax in your resort or join our optional full day tour through the lovely Moselle Valley. Well visit one or more of the famous wine towns such as Cochem, with its imposing castle and delightful promenade alongside the river, or Bernkastel which has one of Germanys prettiest marketplaces. No trip to this area would be complete, however, without sampling a variety of the delicious regional wines produced here. After a four course dinner, see in the New Year in good company in your hotel. neW YearS DaY - After a leisurely breakfast why not enjoy our optional half day Rhine Gorge excursion featuring a scenic drive and river cruise, one of the best ways to appreciate the dramatic Rhine landscape. See, amongst other memorable sights, the famous Lorelei Rock, where legend has it that a beautiful maiden lured sailors onto the rocks with her song. We also take you to the popular wine town of Rüdesheim, where you can visit the famous narrow street, the Drosselgasse. Here the wine flows and theres music and laughter all year round. FrIDaY 2nd JanuarY 2009 - Depart after breakfast for Calais and a late afternoon crossing back to the UK. Return to your original departure point in the evening. Your Hotel You will stay in a charming riverside village such as Kamp Bornhofen on the Rhine or Winningen on the Moselle. We have chosen friendly familyrun hotels, where you are assured of a warm welcome and a comfortable stay. All bedrooms have private facilities, and hotels feature a bar and restaurant.
