The beautiful landscapes, wonderful climate, enchanting villages and fine wines guarantee good times and great memories. YOUR ITINERARY BEAUNE Whats Included n Return travel by air-conditioned executive coach n Channel crossings by ferry n Seven nights accommodation, three nights half board, four nights bed and breakfast n Overnight hotel accommodation as detailed n Services of a Travelsphere Tour Manager n Excursions as follows: - Reims - Mumm Champagne Cellars - Dijon & the Abbey of Fontenay - Guided tour of Vienne Calais DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning crossing to Calais. Continue to Reims for an early evening arrival at your hotel for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - This morning there is an included walking tour of Reims city, where you will find the Basilica of st Remi, Tau Palace and the Roman Forum. You will then visit the Mumm Champagne Cellars for a tour, revealing the history of the company, the art of making champagne and a tasting. Continue on through France to Dijon for a three night stay. Dinner is included tonight. DAYs 3 & 4 - Free to relax and enjoy our excursion programme. The following excursion is included: Dijon and the Abbey of Fontenay - This full day excursion includes a guided tour of Dijon, the capital of the Burgundy region. Highlights of the city include the magnificent 13th century church of Notre Dame, and the cobbled Rue Verrerie, with its medieval half-timbered houses. You will move on to the Abbey de Fontenay. Founded in 1118, this is the oldest Cistercian monastery in Europe and a fascinating example of the Romanesque style. The following tour is optional: Beaune & Autun - A full day excursion into the heart of Burgundy. We visit the medieval town of Beaune in the middle of the Côte dOr, home to the finest Burgundy wines in stone-built caves beneath its cobbled streets. You will then continue to the lovely town of Autun which dates back 2,000 years and is fondly known as the Jewel of Burgundy. DAY 5 - Leave Dijon and head to Vienne for a guided tour of this ancient town. In the afternoon you will continue on your journey to orange, where four nights accommodation has been arranged. Dinner is included tonight and on Day 7. DAYs 6 To 8 - Free to relax in the historic town of Orange, and enjoy our programme of optional excursions: amphitheatre and the Maison Carrée. We also visit the famous Pont du Gard, a magnificent Roman aqueduct. Arles & the Camargue - Arles is a charming town on the River Rhône, while the Camargue has a unique landscape and wildlife. Avignon & a Rhône Cruise - Take a guided walking tour through the old quarter of Avignon, including entrance to the Popes Palace. A gentle cruise on the River Rhône to Villeneuve-lesAvignon is also included. DAY 9 - Depart after breakfast, you travel to the Auxerre area for your final overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 10 - Continue to Calais for a late afternoon crossing to the UK. Continue to your original departure point in the evening. YOUR HOTELS In Dijon, you will stay in a comfortable medium grade hotel such as the Ibis Central Dijon. There are two restaurants in the hotel and all rooms feature private facilities, TV and telephone. In Orange, you will stay in the comfortable medium grade Hotel Amarys orange, centrally located in the town. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and lift. All bedrooms feature private facilities, telephone and TV.
