Influenced by both Germany and France it is a fascinating city with plenty to offer. We include an orientation tour and a visit to picturesque Colmar and offer an excursion along the Alsace Wine Road. Dominated by its magnificent Gothic cathedral, Strasbourg is a city rich in architectural history. The hub of the city is the old quarter located on an island, where beautifully preserved halftimbered houses line the narrow streets and river banks. Much of the centre is pedestrianised and the picturesque area around La Petite France' is home to a wonderful choice of shops, bars and restaurants. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Depart on the morning Eurostar service from London St. Pancras or Ebbsfleet to Paris Gare du Nord. You will then transfer by coach to Paris Gare de l'Est where you board the TGV service to Strasbourg. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a four night stay. DAYS 2 TO 4 - Free to explore Strasbourg under your own steam, or enjoy our included excursions: Strasbourg - Our included morning walking tour of Strasbourg's old quarter starts at the landmark of the city, the Notre Dame Cathedral. Your afternoon is free to explore at your own pace. Why not take an optional boat trip through the network of canals  a great way to see the city. Colmar & Kaysersberg - Enjoy a guided tour of Colmar, home to the creator of the Statue of Liberty, before moving on to Kaysersberg. Reputed to be one of the prettiest villages on the Alsace Wine Road, Kaysersberg has an impressive 12th century hillside fortress. We also offer an optional excursion: The Alsace Wine Road - This fascinating full day excursion takes you along the Alsace Wine Road, starting at Gertwiller where you visit a gingerbread shop, before continuing to Chateau Haut Koenigsbourg and Ribeauville. It's then on to the wine cellars of Zellenberg for a tasting before finishing the day in Riquewihr, which has remained virtually unchanged since the 16th century. DAY 5 - Early afternoon, board the TGV service to Paris, where you board the Eurostar for the return journey to the UK, arriving early evening. YOUR HOTEL You will stay in a comfortable medium grade hotel such as the Best Western MonopoleMetropole, conveniently located within a few minutes' walk of Strasbourg's La Petite France district. Hotel amenities include a bar, lounge, restaurant and lift. The comfortably furnished bedrooms feature private facilities, TV and telephone. On one evening during your stay we include dinner at a local restaurant to sample the local Alsace cuisine.
