SWITZERLAND - RESORT STAY Swiss Winter Delight 7 days from One of the best times to visit Switzerland is during early spring, when the skies are blue, the sun is bright and the mountains still sparkle with crisp snow. The town of Lucerne has a wonderful lakeside position and is surrounded on all sides by snow-capped peaks. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning crossing to Calais. Continue to your overnight stop in northern France on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Cross into Switzerland at Basel to arrive in Lucerne late afternoon, for a four night stay on a half board basis. DAYS 3 TO 5 - Free to relax and enjoy our optional excursion programme: Glacier Express - We board the train at Andermatt and head along one of the most scenic stretches, crossing the 6,660 ft high Oberalp Pass. The Glacier Express excursion must be pre-booked. YOUR ITINERARY DAY 1 - Local departure and a mid-morning crossing to Calais. Continue to northern France for an overnight stay on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 2 - Continue through Switzerland arriving at Feldkirch in Austria in the late afternoon for a four night stay on a half board basis. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner. DAY 3 - Included morning orientation walk around Feldkirch. In the afternoon join our included excursion to Appenzell in Switzerland. We also visit a dairy in Stein to taste the local cheese and try a glass of Swiss wine. Return to the hotel for a traditional dinner followed by a folklore show. DAY 4 - Included full day excursion to the Swiss canton of Grisons. We drive to the town of Chur and board the Arosa Express narrow-gauge Alpine railway for a ride through the splendid mountain scenery to the winter sports resort at Arosa. On the way back to the hotel we stop in Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. After a German speciality dinner in the evening, you can try your luck at bingo in the hotel. Day 5 - Included full day excursion visiting picturesque Meersburg on Lake Constance to visit the spectacular castle (entrance not included). Then it's on to Friedrichshafen to visit the Zeppelin museum, returning via delightful Lindau. At the hotel, enjoy a hot mulled wine before an Austrian-style dinner accompanied by accordion music.
